A total of 1,337,142 visitors entered in the first half of 2023, a figure that represents 55.1% more visitors than the same period in 2022, and 3.5% more than the first half of 2019 (before the pandemic).
In addition, the income from tourism reached B/. 2,797.1 million, which represents an increase of 22.9% compared to the same period last year. Also, it is estimated that the percentage of hotel occupancy was around 57.1%, according to preliminary figures corresponding to hotels in Panama City.
The results indicate a considerable increase in the length of stay of visitors, which is approximately 8 days, with an average expense of B/. 2,092 per stay.
These historic figures for Panamanian tourism are the product of the work developed between the public sector and the private sector of the country, based on the execution of the Sustainable Tourism Master Plan 2020-2025, in addition to the efforts generated through PROMTUR Panama and the marketing actions for the tourism brand “Panama, Live for More”, with an investment from the National Government of B/.20 million annually.
