Fernando de Noronha Island is the "Best Beach Destination in Brazil". This statement was proven by the Best Travel and Tourism Award 2023/2024, from Revista Viagem e Turismo, published by Abril, being yet another recognition for the place that is one of Pernambuco's main sun and sea attractions. The award ceremony took place last Wednesday (27), at the Hyatt Hotel, in Barra da Tijuca, Rio de Janeiro. The president of the Pernambuco Tourism Company (EMPETUR), Eduardo Loyo, was the one who received the recognition.

According to Eduardo Loyo, Fernando de Noronha is one of the main destinations in the State and attracts a large number of visitors throughout the year. “This award reflects, once again, the natural beauty, the good infrastructure, the promotion and publicity of Noronha as a success. This is due to the work done by everyone who makes tourism in Pernambuco happen, to the point of pleasing tourists and making the place increasingly desired by visitors”, he comments.

"Having our island of Fernando de Noronha recognized as the best beach destination by Revista Viagem e Turismo fills us with joy and pride. Whoever discovers our beaches finds, in addition to all the beauty and charm, an example of environmental preservation for the world ", says the administrator of the archipelago, Thallyta Figuerôa.

The state secretary of Tourism and Leisure, Daniel Coelho, confirms the importance of the award and states that the island is an important symbol of Pernambuco. "Our State receives this award with great honor. Noronha is the best beach destination not only in Brazil, but also in the world. Revista Viagem e Turismo gives further recognition to our archipelago, attesting to the island's return to tourist taste. People want to go there, that's why Fernando de Noronha is back! Today the entire hotel chain is busy, welcoming those who visit there, making tourists want to return to this important symbol of Pernambuco", he concluded.

The archipelago has rich terrestrial and marine biodiversity and is protected by Conservation Units: the Fernando de Noronha Environmental Protection Area (APA) and the Fernando de Noronha Marine National Park.

Due to its historical relevance, environmental diversity and the work carried out towards its conservation, Fernando de Noronha was recognized and listed as a World Natural Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2001.
