This year, the event had approximately 3,000 scheduled business meetings, more than 100 companies with 200 buyer-delegates (tour operators from source markets to the Mexican Caribbean) from 16 countries: Germany, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, India, Israel, Peru, United Arab Emirates, United States, Spain, Switzerland, Turkey and the United Kingdom, as well as 86 suppliers with 240 delegates: hotels, resorts, incoming agencies, destination promotion and government organizations, as well as travel service providers in Mexico.
The Cancun Travel Mart strengthens the marketing of destinations by providing negotiation spaces and social events to negotiate about the next vacation seasons to ensure better occupancy for the organized hotel industry, which is why in the previous edition we announced the creation of the Mexican Caribbean Hotel Council , an organization that brings together the Associations of Hotels and Vacation Clubs throughout the state and in the last Tourist Tianguis, was officially formed with Ms. Mara Lezama, Constitutional Governor of the State of Quintana Roo, as an honorary witness.
Starting this year, the AHCPMIM has developed the Sustainable Hospitality Communication Plan, highlighting the practices, certifications and activities that hotels and allied members carry out in favor of sustainable tourism, therefore in congruence with this plan, from this edition, we signed an alliance with Sustentur and we have measured the footprint of the event and compensated its impact, through the Reef Restoration Program of the Oceanus Civil Association, which carries out conservation actions for the Mesoamerican reef, so the Cancun Travel Mart It is already a “Carbon Neutral” event.
In addition, the promotion of the Mexican Caribbean has been developed in conjunction with official organizations such as caravans, familiarization trips, seminars and training for travel agents. We also maintain close relationships and communication with the authorities of the three levels of government to highlight the importance from Latin American markets such as Brazil, Colombia, Argentina, Ecuador, Peru, among other countries that represent a flow of tourists to Mexico, mainly Quintana Roo. We continue working to convey the importance of streamlining immigration procedures, as well as using technology to make visa processes more efficient to maintain the loyalty that they have had for years in the Mexican Caribbean.
Knowing the importance that the hotels in Cancun, Puerto Morelos and Isla Mujeres represent; 10.4% of the state Gross Domestic Product and 53.2% of the state hotel GDP (higher than that of any other state in the Mexican Republic except for Quintana Roo), Cancun Travel Mart emphasizes the need to increase budgets for promotion tourism in general since it is important to keep the brands of our destinations at the top of mind.
