The Minister of SENATUR represents Paraguay at the 25th General Assembly of the UNWTO

The General Assembly of the World Tourism Organization takes place in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, from October 16 to 20, bringing together high-level delegates and ministers from more than 150 countries

Angie Duarte, head of the National Secretariat of Tourism, is already fulfilling her agenda in the Asian country on behalf of the Government of Paraguay.

The three plenary sessions of the General Assembly will take place on Wednesday, October 18 and Thursday, October 19. However, the meetings between world tourism leaders have already begun today, Monday, October 16, with the opening of the event and the meeting of the Statistics Committee. where the Senatur minister already actively participated.

“Green Tourism and Investments” is the motto of the UNWTO in 2023, aiming at the sustainable development of tourism activity worldwide, and Senatur is following this roadmap, taking advantage of the great natural potential of our country, to continue strengthening the proposal of Paraguay as an investment hub for different interested sectors and promote the heart of America as a tourist destination.

The occasion will also be conducive to meeting new winners of the “Best Tourism Villages”, a program that rewards the best tourist towns in the world. In 2021 this award went to the city of San Cosme y Damián, and Bella Vista entered the “upgrade” improvement program in the 2022 edition, and in 2023 they applied to the cities of La Colmena, department. from Paraguarí; Santa María de Fe, dept. of Missions; Yataity, dept. from Guaira; Seniors, dept. of Cordillera; and San Lázaro, from the department. of Concepción.

UNWTO Secretary-General Zurab Pololikashvili will present a report highlighting progress in key areas such as investments in tourism, education and innovation over the past two years.
