The luxury hotel brand Gran Meliá, whose hotels are inspired by the so-called Spanish “good living”, has stood out with three of its most iconic hotels in the Beyond Luxury Awards. The exceptional experiences that these hotels offer their guests through their design and gastronomy have been the protagonists in the latest edition of what are the benchmark awards for the luxury hotel industry in Spain.
The Hotel Villa Le Blanc, located in Menorca, has received the award for Best Interior Design; where the jury has highlighted its respect for the environment, based on sustainability, and its integration with the Mediterranean. Opened a year ago, after carrying out a renovation project designed by the Álvaro Sans architecture studio, the hotel has become a luxury refuge by the sea where guests enjoy a unique experience, in which The culture and gastronomy of Menorca are very present. Villa Le Blanc has also been included in the 10 Best List by Beyond Luxury Awards, which makes an exhaustive selection of the best luxury hotels.
Located in Mallorca, the Hotel de Mar has stood out for its exclusive gastronomic offer; specifically for its 5-stage breakfast offered by Michelin-starred chef Marga Coll. Understanding gastronomy as an essential part of a luxury experience, this breakfast goes beyond the conventional, offering a gustatory and sensory proposal lasting more than two hours, which takes an exquisite tour of Balearic gastronomy.
Another of Gran Meliá's iconic luxury hotels, in this case located in Tenerife, is the Hotel Palacio de Isora, which in this edition of the awards has won the award for Best Pool in a luxury hotel. This, with spectacular views of the Atlantic, is the largest saltwater infinity pool in Europe. This emblematic hotel of the company is perfectly integrated into an exceptional natural environment with large outdoor spaces, which make up a unique oasis facing the sea and with its back to Teide.
The award for Best Hotelier of the Year went to Gabriel Escarrer Jaume, President and CEO of Meliá Hotels International. The first executive of Meliá Hotels International, who in 2023 has also taken over as president of the first Spanish hotel company that, with more than 60 years of experience, already has more than 400 hotels open or in the process of opening around the world.
In addition, the company is promoting the expansion of its luxury brands, whose hotel portfolio will grow by more than 40% in the coming years. Among the most notable upcoming openings are two of the Gran Meliá brand hotels: Palazzo Cordusio in Milan, which will open in 2023, and Torre Melina, which hopes to become an emblem of luxury in Barcelona.
