Chile dazzles with its natural diversity and its commitment to sustainability, reasons for which it seeks to win the World's Leading Green Destination crown at the World Travel Awards for the second consecutive year. On this occasion, the country will compete for the title against Colombia, Ecuador, Madagascar, Norway and Peru.

The prestigious awards that highlight destinations and tourist products of excellence, this year nominated our country in three other categories: Adventure Destination, Nature Destination and Romantic Destination for the Atacama Desert.

For the Undersecretary of Tourism, Verónica Pardo, “we should feel proud as a country to be nominated again in these categories, because we have the natural riches to be world leaders and it is a recognition of the continuous effort to preserve and enhance the beauty that has been ours. confident We know that we are capable of maintaining the award given to us at the World Travel Awards as best green destination, but also of recovering that of adventure destination, and why not become winners, for the first time, of the other two nominations. Whatever the outcome, we must remember the responsibility we have in the conservation and regeneration of places and in caring for our country.” Voting will be open until Friday, November 17 on the worldtravelawards.com site. Simply register and select the categories in which the country is nominated.

“Having the possibility of continuing to be world leaders as a green destination is a testament to the efforts we have made in the public sector to promote tourist experiences that are based on the sustainability and natural wealth of our sixteen regions. We invite everyone to be part of this achievement by voting for Chile in the World Travel Awards, to maintain this position and, in this way, more people have Chile as their next travel destination," urged Cristóbal Benítez, national director of Sernatur.

Vote for Chile in the World Travel Awards
The categories in which Chile was nominated in the 2023 edition of the World Travel Awards, known as the Oscars of tourism, are a testament to the diversity of experiences it offers travelers.

From enjoying romantic moments in the middle of the spectacular Atacama Desert - in the regions of Arica and Parinacota, Tarapacá, Antofagasta, Atacama and Coquimbo - to the opportunity to explore the richness of its biodiversity and experience the excitement of outdoor activities and adventure in its majestic landscapes.

Green Destination: Chile has been repeatedly recognized for its focus on ecotourism and the promotion of sustainable practices in its tourism industry. Without going any further, the country has held this title since 2022 and this new nomination reaffirms its leadership in terms of sustainability.

Adventure Destination: our territory is known for its geographical diversity, which offers adventures for all tastes, from trekking in Patagonia to surfing on the Pacific coast. The national card to obtain this title is to be the best adventure destination in South America today.

Nature Destination: with exceptional natural wealth ranging from majestic glaciers to tropical jungles, Chile is positioned as a paradise for nature lovers.

Romantic Destination (through the Atacama Desert): the driest desert in the world, with its lunar landscapes and starry skies, offers a unique romantic experience that attracts couples from different latitudes. Since 2018, Chile has achieved this category at the South American level.

In other categories, the country is represented by private companies in the categories of Vineyard (by Concha y Toro and VIK), Cruise Port (Puerto de Valparaíso), Adventure Hotel (Tierra Patagonia), Hotel for Business Trips (The Ritz- Carlton de Santiago), Hotel Verde (Tierra Atacama), Sustainable Lodge (Explora Patagonia), Wine Region Hotel (Clos Apalta and VIK).
