Puerto Limón receives its first cruise of the 2023-2024 season

Puerto Limón will receive cruise ships from October until August 2024, around 103 cruise ships. Like the previous season, it will have dates where the Limón dock will receive 3 cruises on the same day, giving economic reactivation to Puerto Limón and all the cantons that have been preparing for months to receive excursionists.

Likewise, in the months of December, January, February and March, two cruises will be received on the same date at the terminal.

“We are ready to receive cruise passengers this season and we are making progress in seeking the transition to the Construction Project of the Limón Marina and Cruise Terminal in Puerto Limón, we are committed to achieving a new reality for the country and we are working hard to achieve it.” Sucy Wing. The commercial sector, the six cantons of the province, the local tourism agencies, the shipping sector, the productive chains that contribute to tourist activity are ready for this season.

“From the ICT we are pleased with the start of the cruise season in Limón, which will extend from October to May 2024. The arrival of the Zaandam cruise ship of the Holland America line with 962 passengers, - coming mainly from Canada and the United States United -, marks the beginning of a season in which 103 vessels are projected to visit, said Gustavo Alvarado, Director of Tourism Management of the Costa Rican Institute of Tourism. Alvarado added as an outstanding fact that “it is estimated that more than 30 expedition and luxury ships will visit the Costa Rican Caribbean this season, which reaffirms the interest of these lines in this segment, due to the natural attractions, culture and activities. of sustainable tourism that both the Caribbean and Costa Rica offer as a whole, generating economic benefits and the spillover of the tourist dollar in various chains,” he concluded.
