Dominican gastronomy will be promoted abroad

Chancellor Alvarez highlights the versatility of Dominican cuisine, as a true Country Brand

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Roberto Álvarez, and the vice president of the Council of Directors of Propano y Derivados SA (PROPAGAS), Rosa Bonetti, signed a memorandum of understanding to promote Dominican gastronomy through embassies, permanent missions and consulates accredited in the outside.

MIREX and PROPAGAS will collaborate in the edition and dissemination of the book “Flavor, color and heat for the world”, with the interest of promoting Creole gastronomy and projecting a positive image of the country abroad.

Foreign Minister Roberto Álvarez assured that “this effort of gastronomic diplomacy is aligned with our mission to make known, outside our borders, the versatility of Dominican cuisine, a true Country Brand.”

While Rosa Bonetti expressed in her speech that “I am sure that with the fruit of our efforts, the book Flavor, color and heat for the world will be a source of inspiration for future generations, a tribute to our gastronomy, a gift for all those who seek to know more about the Dominican Republic, and an expression of gratitude to all Dominicans who have contributed to making our gastronomy a national treasure.”

Present at the activity were the vice minister for Dominican Communities Abroad, Carlos de la Mota; directors of MIREX; officials of the Directorate of Specialized Diplomacy, representing its director, María Alejandra Castillo; and as a special guest, Gabriel Atiles Bidó, executive director of the Dominican Academy of Gastronomy.
