Among the topics, Freixo studies how to strengthen local “film commissions” and how to create a national film commission.
Freixo highlighted during the meeting the importance of bringing the audiovisual sector closer to the tourism sector. “It is a meeting that helps to promote Brazil in different ways. Spain, North Korea and Portugal are some of the countries that have worked with this strategy and achieved good results”, he highlighted.
The project to be developed by Embratur, in partnership with Ancine, aims to strengthen the audiovisual sector and, using films and series, for example, expand the promotion of Brazilian destinations to attract a greater number of international tourists. “Film commissions are structures whose objective is to promote the qualities and attractiveness of a destination to host filming, as well as contributing to strengthening the synergy between the tourist trade and the audiovisual sector”, explains Embratur’s culture and gastronomy supervisor, Christiano Braga , who also participated in the meeting.
The president of Ancine made himself available to help Embratur in this articulation and highlighted the importance of coordination for the country to occupy space in international productions. Freixo has also met with other bodies to address the issue.
Last Friday (27), for example, he met with the president of Banco do Brasil, Tarciana Medeiros, to talk about Embratur projects and the strengthening of audiovisual tourism was on the agenda. Tarciana highlighted that Asset, the institution's company that manages funds, supports film projects in the country and can be an important actor.
