For the third time in the country, in the last days of the year, the 15th edition of the Pan American Maccabee Games will be held in Buenos Aires.
In a difficult context and the resilience of the Jewish people, the Games, organized by FACCMA (Argentine Federation of Maccabean Community Centers) will provide the opportunity to once again host the community event with the most participants from the region.
The sporting, social and cultural event brings together delegations from across the continent and some European countries to compete in various sporting disciplines. The participation of approximately 4,000 athletes from various countries is expected to be divided between different competition venues where the following sports will be practiced: Basketball, Futsal, Soccer, Artistic Gymnastics, Rhythmic Gymnastics, Golf, Handball, Hockey, Macabi Man/woman, Macabi Run (Triathlon, running, open water), Cycling, Swimming, Netball, Paddleball, Pickleball, Softball, Tennis, Table tennis, Volleyball, Beach volleyball.
It is an event of national interest open to the community that seeks to promote the comprehensive development of the Jewish community through the dissemination of Maccabean values and the construction of an institutional, sporting and cultural legacy. “ The Maccabean Games seek excellence in all its areas to make it an unforgettable event for both the Argentine delegation and all the delegations from the rest of the world. Internally we work to leave a legacy for our Federation as well as for the region and internationally,” said Lucas Makarz, Director of Communications for the games.
The Pan American Games are held every four years, alternating two years and two years with the World Maccabeadas. In our country, they were previously carried out in 1995 and in 2007.
