The WTTC appoints Gloria Fluxà as President of the Sustainability Committee

The World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) announced the appointment of Gloria Fluxà as the new Vice President of the international organization and Chair of its Sustainability Committee. Fluxà has extensive experience on the subject, since since 2018 she has held the position of Vice President and Director of Sustainability of the Iberostar Group, in which she has defended sustainability initiatives and promoted the company's commitment to responsible tourism.

Furthermore, in her capacity as President of the Iberostar Foundation, she has also demonstrated a dedication to environmental and social causes. Fluxà replaces the co-founder and President of Intrepid Group, Darrell Wade, who took the reins of the Sustainability Committee in 2020. It is worth noting that, in May 2018, Gloria Fluxà was named "Young Global Leader" by the World Economic Forum , for their efforts to promote sustainable tourism, particularly in the area of ​​marine and ocean preservation through the "Wave of Change" movement. This initiative focuses on promoting reductions in plastic consumption, sustainable fishing practices and improving coastal health.

During its recent Global Summit in Rwanda, WTTC also announced the appointment of Greg O'Hara, founder and Senior Managing Director of Certares Management LLC, as its new Chairman of the WTTC Board of Directors, bringing his extensive experience and leadership to the advisory body. global tourism. Under this new leadership, the WTTC and its members will advance the global travel and tourism sector towards a more sustainable future.
