Last Friday, the 17th, Festuris, the major tourist business event in the Americas, delivered to the Secretary of State for Culture 2,100,000 books collected during the 2023 edition. Festuris operations manager, Vânia Oliveira, represented the Festuris in the delivery of books.
The donation of donations took place at the AFEET stand, and had the support of ABRAJET, during the 35th Gramado International Tourism Fair. The objective of the action is to help in the reconstruction of Rio Grande do Sul libraries affected by the floods. Copies of all literary genres were accepted, with the exception of those of a didactic nature. “Books are very powerful instruments for human development. For school networks, and especially for children and young people, they are essential companions who broaden horizons in the learning processes”, stated the Secretary of State for Culture, Beatriz Araujo.
For Vânia Oliveira, president of AFEET, the partnership with Festuris to collect books is part of the entity's commitment to promoting culture in the country. Marta Rossi, founder and CEO of Festuris, said that the event could not be left out of an initiative like this from Sedac-RS, as the action reinforces the main theme of this year's edition of Festuris, which is Human Capital - The Key of Transformation.
During the recently held Gramado Book Fair, books were collected by the Municipal Department of Culture and the Cyro Martins Municipal Library. There were 258 works delivered to the AFEET stand, at Festuris. “We believe in literature as a transformative factor. It transforms views, creates people more capable of making choices”, highlights Ricardo Reginatto, Gramado’s municipal secretary of Culture. He considers the action very valid and important for the communities affected by the storms.
