From Travel2latam we spoke with Carmen Díaz Maroto, Tourism Promotion Manager of Castilla-La Mancha, within the framework of the WTM London fair.
What does participation in these types of events mean to you?
For us it is a showcase opening. We attended this fair with Tour España, promoting Spain as a tourist destination, and it is a fundamental meeting point to open business opportunities and contact with the tour operation, the Mice, Leisure sector and the world of tourism at the level international. It is not only a fair for the British market, but it is a meeting point for destinations and operators from all over the world.
What are your main source markets and why?
Our main source markets internationally are the United Kingdom, France, Germany and also Portugal. They are the European proximity markets in this sense, very interesting for us, but not only speaking in terms of volume, number of travelers, but also in terms of consumption and tourist spending. So are the countries of the American continent, such as the United States, Mexico, Argentina and Colombia. They are very important tourism emitters for us, for Spain and for Castilla-La Mancha.
We are reaching the end of the season, what is your vision of what has happened and do you think will happen in 2024?
If there is something that is evidence, it is uncertainty. Many times we are in a moment in which we know little about what may happen in the coming months, but it is also very important to take into account the issue of inflation, which is a trend in almost all countries. However, the economic figures are being very good and we have to be very aware that with caution we can be hopeful and look optimistically at the future. But taking into account this caution regarding uncertainty and inflation, our vision is optimistic with the figures because they tell us that the tourism sector has muscle and is working very well.
