The “Angel of Tourism 2023” awards recognize the professionals, companies and institutions of the Industry and meetings that have stood out the most throughout the year. During the awards ceremony, 11 categories are awarded, which were previously submitted to the vote. of tourism industry specialists.

Thanks to the hard work promoted by the State Government through the Tourism Promotion Secretariat (Sefotur) headed by Fridman Hirsch, it has been possible to once again capture the attention of the world towards the entity, sticking to everything that makes them feel proud, their identity, traditions, customs, history, gastronomy and culture, taking advantage of each of these elements to promote decentralized and inclusive tourism where everyone can participate, and that, at the same time, allows them to preserve the environment.

Such is the case of Aldeas Mayas, one of its greatest success stories or the “365 days in Yucatán” campaign that emerged as a strategy to promote tourism “at home” as a result of the Covid-19 contingency, followed by “365 Flavors in Yucatán” strategy that not only led to the creation of the Sabores de Yucatán Festival; but rather, it served as a transversal axis to stimulate economic and social development on the recovery route for post-pandemic tourism.

The latter was presented in its second edition from November 16 to 20, with the presence of international chefs intervening in Yucatecan kitchens during the Festival, awakening the interest of locals, visitors and gourmet experts.

Today Yucatán is home to 7 Magical Towns, hundreds of haciendas and cenotes, 378 kilometers of coast with calm emerald green and turquoise blue waters, Chichén Itzá, one of the Wonders of the Modern World, and 20 other archaeological sites to visit. It is the home of the living Mayan Culture, of extraordinary gastronomy such as cochinita pibil, baked suckling pig, stuffed black, papadzules and many more. Without a doubt, Yucatán has an endless number of activities that are today known worldwide, projected by a tourism promotion strategy.
