Since 1982, the ANATO Tourist Showcase has been consolidating itself as the most important commercial and professional event in the sector in the country, and throughout its history it has strengthened internationally as a great tourism benchmark for Colombia and the world; a space expected by all entrepreneurs in the travel industry, who seek to establish commercial agreements in the same place, for three days. In 2024, the event will take place on February 28, 29 and March 1.
“Every year, more departments and cities in the country express their interest in being chosen as the national destination for the next version of the Tourist Showcase, and that satisfies us, because we know that the work we do to promote the management of local governments is reflects in the revitalization of tourism, the generation of employment and the development of their communities,” said Paula Cortés Calle, executive president of ANATO.
ANATO, based on data from Migration Colombia, calculates that between January and October 2023, 14,302 foreigners entered Nariño, which meant a growth of 10%, compared to the 13,039 in the same period in the previous year, being some of the attractions tourist attractions most in demand by them: Nuestra Señora de Las Lajas Sanctuary, the Galeras Volcano, the Cocha Lagoon, the Black and White Carnival, among others.
Likewise, the Association, based on information from Civil Aeronautics, estimates that between January and September 2023, 367,296 passengers arrived in Nariño on domestic flights, that is, an increase of 23%, when compared to the 299,248 in the same months of the year. former.
However, it must be taken into account that the region's air connectivity must be strengthened, since according to ProColombia, as of November 2023, Pasto, Ipiales and Tumaco are connected from Bogotá, Cali and Puerto Asís, through 3 airlines. , through 80 direct weekly frequencies, which has meant a 25% reduction compared to November of last year.
