First MICE tourism business roundtable promotes agreements for Chilean companies

More than 120 participants had the third version of Chile, your best bet, which also included training on the Sernatur experience catalog and a business roundtable for national tourism

The National Tourism Service organized a series of business conferences to promote the local industry and domestic tourism. Chile, your best bet is called the initiative that facilitated commercial exchange between local operators and regional suppliers, in total, more than 120 tourism companies and associations from different fields that were able to establish important contacts to enhance their businesses.

Throughout the day, local tour operators and regional suppliers participated in business conferences focusing on two segments: on the one hand, national tourism, while, on the other hand, business tourism. The latter is the first business conference of its kind to be held in Chile.

“The importance of this event lies in the fact that this is the first time that a business conference on MICE tourism has been organized in our country, gathering the interest of those who are part of this subsector. On this occasion, we have managed to bring together specialized suppliers, along with decision makers and organizers of national and international events,” explained Cristóbal Benítez, national director of Sernatur.

Chile, your best bet aims to promote business interaction, encourage collaboration and create opportunities for growth and commercial expansion of participating companies, as well as deepen their knowledge of national destinations.

The authority also explained that “with these instances we aim to strengthen the tourism marketing chain in its different segments, facilitating the commercial exchange of companies in the MICE tourism wheel and in the national tourism wheel, mainly operators and travel agencies that Other service providers and representatives of universities and associations looking for places to hold their events were able to join. We hope that the relationships they were able to establish today will generate future business opportunities for our industry.”

Reactions about Chile, your best bet 
Chile, your best bet was an event organized by Sernatur that had no cost for its participants, who were able to hold meetings and establish contacts. In total, there were more than 700 effective meetings that generated business and connections between the participants: over 300 meetings in the MICE tourism conference and more than 350 in the national business conference.

“We are very happy to participate again with Sernatur in these tourism promotion activities that allow us to expand our arms, reach new clients and make possible alliances. We appreciate it a lot,” said Alejandra Palma, commercial representative of Turismo Gato Andino, a local operator in San Pedro de Atacama.  

For Ana Bahamondes, from La Serena Convention Bureau, the Business Tourism area of ​​the Municipality of La Serena, “it has been a tremendous opportunity because this truly is a commercial showcase, therefore, my thanks to Sernatur for having organized this initiative that puts us in contact with large destination buyers in order to develop MICE tourism. What Chile needs at this moment is to promote this type of tourism and, above all, in the regions.”  

For his part, Francisco Moraga, from the Chilean Society of Pediatrics and the Latin American Association of Pediatrics, expressed that “we are very grateful for this activity. It has really allowed us to gather a very significant range of contacts with providers of different services. Mainly, I have taken advantage of contacting the convention bureaus. This has been one of the great opportunities that has been given to us.”
