A delegation made up of 19 Peruvian companies participated in the China Fisheries & Seafood Expo (CFSE) fair, the most important commercial event specialized in the fishing sector on the Asian continent, which this year returned in its in-person format after being suspended for three years due to the pandemic. of COVID-19, reported the Commission for the Promotion of Peru for Exports and Tourism (PROMPERÚ).
The fair is organized by Sea Fare Expositions and takes place in the city of Qingdao, where much of the processing of seafood products with raw materials from Peru takes place.
In 2020, the 26th edition had to be postponed due to the growing number of coronavirus cases in China, which led Qingdao city officials to maintain bans on mass gatherings such as trade fairs. Upon its return in 2023, this edition took place between October 25 and 27 at the Hongdao International Convention and Exhibition Center (Qingdao).
PROMPERÚ consolidated the return of the Peruvian presence at this fair with the participation of 19 co-exhibiting companies with solid export experience, from the regions of Lima (10), Piura (8) and Ica (1), of which, four They attended the event for the first time.
The companies participated in this commercial platform with the objective of positioning the Peruvian offer and continuing to promote the growth of Peruvian products in the Asian market. In this way, they exhibited frozen products such as squid in various presentations, flying fish eggs, prawns and eel.
The stands of the Peruvian delegation received visits from all over the Asian continent, especially from China, South Korea, Japan, Thailand, Taiwan and Vietnam, showing a greater influx of visitors, after three years of absence due to the pandemic, and a high demand for the national supply, mainly for the squid. In this way, commercial commitments for USD 93 million were reached, as a result of the work meetings and commercial appointments held at this commercial meeting. Of the total amount achieved, USD 5 million was realized during this commercial activity and USD 88 million will materialize in the next twelve months.
As part of the participation in the China Fisheries & Seafood Expo (CFSE), a delegation of nine businessmen visited the city of Zhoushan, in the province of Zhejiang, China, known for being an important port and logistics center; as well as the Shenjiamen fishing village, which houses production centers for buyers and importers of squid and squid, and the Zhoushan National Yuanyang Fishery Base.

As part of the promotion of products based on Peruvian squid under the Peru brand, PROMPERÚ's commercial office in Beijing launched a campaign for this product in the Chinese market in the month of October.
This action was carried out with the support of the importer Havesea and consisted of putting squid snacks made by this company on sale, using packaging that made visible the Peruvian origin of the input, through the use of the Perú and Super Foods Perú brand.
Within the framework of the China Fisheries fair, the company Havesea launched the online platform for the sale of squid Linking Fish, for which it organized a promotional event that brought together more than 100 representatives of the sector.
Currently two Peruvian companies, FERNANDEZ and GLOBAL TOP, have joined the project as strategic partners and their products are already for sale on the Linking Fish platform. During the aforementioned event, as well as at the Brigh Radiance Hotel in the city of Yantai, the squid snack was also promoted.
