Quito offers gastronomy, tourism and tradition during its festivities

An agenda of activities that seeks to recover and promote the traditions and gastronomy of Quito is offered by the municipality through Quito Tourism and that adds to the extensive agenda of events planned to celebrate the capital.

The events will start this Saturday, December 2, 2023, with activities that will take place in the Historical Center of the capital.

'Hands in La Ronda' is an activation that will be presented for free during the festivities from 10:00 am, along Morales Street, in the La Ronda neighborhood. You can enjoy traditional games, dramatized routes, city characters and a visit to the artisans of House 925. In addition, a tour of the 'La Ronda House of Arts' will be offered where you can learn more about the traditional crafts that were there. in that place, in the 17th century.

That same day, in house 989 in the La Ronda neighborhood, the 'Grandmothers' Kitchen' activation will take place, a workshop and gastronomic experience to teach how monastic sweets are prepared. Traditional sweets will be prepared while stories and knowledge stored in the foods used are told. Alejandro Espinosa, from Quito, with 10 years of experience in cooking with local and heritage ingredients will participate in the workshop. This activity requires reservation and costs USD 5.00. On December 6, starting at 3:00 p.m., the 'Parade of Quitoness in the Historic Center' will take place. The event will have the participation of approximately 400 people, including dancers and members of artistic and cultural groups. Three groups will depart from: La Ronda, the Basilica and San Marcos towards the basement of the Municipal Palace, then the tour will continue to the Plaza del Teatro, where the Solemn Session will be held for the 489 years of the founding of Quito.

Another event is the gastronomic festival 'Sal Quiteña 2023', an event that will bring together more than 100 establishments including restaurants, cafes, cafes and markets to offer the best flavors of Quito cuisine, from Ecuador and also from other countries.

The festival will take place on Friday the 8th, Saturday the 9th and Sunday the 10th of December in the arena of the Bicentenario Events Center (Parque Bicentenario) from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and admission will be free.

During the gastronomic festival, the public will enjoy artistic groups, live cooking presentations, contests, space for children's entertainment, contests and prizes and, in addition, they will be able to attend with their pets: the event is pet friendly.
