The Director of the Puerto Rico Tourism Company (CTPR), Carlos Mercado Santiago; the president of the Colombian Association of Travel and Tourism Agencies (ANATO), Paula Cortes Calle; The director of the Tourist Showcase, Carlos Andrés Arias, signed today the agreement that makes official the selection of Puerto Rico as an International Destination Guest of Honor in the ANATO 2024 Tourist Showcase.
“We thank ANATO for having been selected as a featured destination in one of the most important fairs in the tourism sector in Latin America. This distinction represents a magnificent opportunity to promote both additional visits and new investments and businesses to the Island. We are very satisfied with the work that the CTPR team has been carrying out on behalf of the Government of Puerto Rico, in collaboration with industry partners. , to raise the profile of Puerto Rico as a preferred destination in the Caribbean region,” commented the head of Tourism.
“We are pleased to have Puerto Rico again as an international destination Guest of Honor of the 43rd ANATO Tourist Showcase, a country that enchants its visitors with its culture, gastronomy, music, beaches and offer for the events and conventions segment. This will be the opportunity to know and rediscover all the wealth of the Isla del Encanto. We want to be that channel to enhance its recognition as a preferred destination for Colombians,” said Paula Cortés Calle, executive president of ANATO.
The 2024 edition, which has already begun to be promoted and highlights Puerto Rico as an International Destination Guest of Honor, will be held from February 28 to March 1, 2023 at the Bogotá International Business and Exhibition Center – CORFERIAS, where It will concentrate, in nearly 32,000 m2, the participation of around 1,200 exhibitors and co-exhibitors from more than 30 countries and all regions of Colombia. Among the companies that participate in it are: wholesale travel agencies, tour operators; airlines, cruise lines, hotels, hotel chains, destinations and providers of tourism products or services.
As detailed by Mercado Santiago, among the advantages and opportunities that Puerto Rico receives as a prominent destination are a privileged location in the Exhibition Hall, the right to hold promotional events on the central stage and being the sole host of the welcome event for the event.
Another important benefit of the recognition granted to Puerto Rico is the holding of a press conference before national and international media. During it, the news, diversity of attractions, infrastructure, events on the agenda and other elements that help increase the competitiveness of Puerto Rico and make the destination even more attractive for consumers both in Latin America and other destinations around the world are announced.
