The tourism industry, and also travelers, totally changed their consumption habits, standards, actions and, above all, search for experiences around the world. Historically, travel used to be expensive, however, today we live in different, more democratic and more accessible times.

Payment methods, new airlines, destinations supported by private initiatives together with governments and new technologies democratize access to a lifestyle full of travel. In Latin America, new trends are being experienced that are dictating a faster symphony, with emotions, beats and an orchestra that follows the score to the letter to obtain the applause of the public, in a figurative sense in reference to the campaigns that experts communication should continue on time, or else the song could sound quite out of tune.

These new trends were recently revealed in the webinar “Updating the Boarding Pass”, directed by Mariana Carreón, Director of Cultural Research and Strategy at another, the leading strategic communications agency in Latin America.

According to Carreon, based on information from the WGSN report: Society, Technology, Environment, Politics, Industry and Creativity (STEPIC) 2025 American Express, the industry is experiencing a major restructuring that is emerging as an imminent reality, with profound transformations in industries, communities and in the very fabric of the planet.

The expert pointed out that, after a forced pause in travel, there is a latent global restructuring and a renewed desire for exploration. Travelers are willing to invest in experiences that transcend the ordinary, from entertainment and culture to emotional healing and unforgettable adventures.

4 trends that are restructuring the industry
It is from this need that new trends emerge that are setting the agenda of tourism experts: experience core, significant journeys, bleisure lifestyle, and tech-travel.

The experience core trend is presented as a need to discover new ways to enjoy a destination, live unique experiences and broaden horizons. From high-end experiences – characterized by their exclusivity, personalization and focus on comfort, privacy and security for travelers – to those available to everyone. Travelers look for the diversity of offers that adapt to different budgets and preferences of different travelers.

Driven by social media, travelers explore the world through content that highlights unique experiences, from VIP events to food adventures. In this context, significant journeys focus on the positive impact of travel on communities, the environment and the economy.

Respect and support for the locality become key principles, where 69% of travelers are willing to spend in local businesses and stores to support communities. Sustainability and awareness guide preferences towards nature-friendly experiences.

The search for wellness and emotional healing drives journeys with a purpose, promoting personal harmony and with the environment. The emergence of the bleisure lifestyle highlights the labor revolution, where remote work becomes the norm, reconfiguring life and the economy.

Hospitality as flexible housing adapts to the new lifestyle, allowing extended stays without complications. Tech-travel introduces emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence and mixed reality to enrich travel experiences.

Finally, the specialist added that these trends must be taken advantage of by brands when executing their strategies because they define a new panorama in Latin American tourism, where innovation and awareness play a central role in the search for unique and significant experiences.
