Surinam Airways inaugurated flight to Barbados International Airport

The flight opens a gateway that will allow seamless connectivity between Suriname, Guyana and Barbados

Last Wednesday, Suriname Airways made its inaugural landing at Grantley Adams International Airport. 

Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc. (BTMI) Acting CEO Craig Hinds, in his welcome to the Government of Suriname, airline officials and travel agents, said he was pleased to be part of another inauguration, when the Barbados winter season officially begins in full. 

Hinds noted that the flight has created a gateway that would allow seamless connectivity between Suriname, Guyana and Barbados. Furthermore, he said that it is part of the overall objective of BTMI, which is to increase air transport to the island and the number of regional visitors. 

He assured that the BTMI team would explore all opportunities to ensure the flight is a success. The airline's acting chief executive officer (CEO), Captain Steven Gonesh, said: "Surinam Airways is here to stay!"

Also included in the local welcome party were the Minister of State of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Business Development, the Hon. Sandra Husbands; BTMI President Shelly Williams; Marsha Alleyne, BTMI Product Manager, and Althea Wiggins, Special Envoy to Suriname.
