The Secretary of Tourism of the Government of Mexico, Miguel Torruco Marqués, began a working tour of Acapulco, with the purpose of continuing the work that will promote the economic reactivation of the destination and the municipality of Coyuca de Benítez, with the close collaboration of the authorities of the three levels of government and the invaluable support of the private sector, in compliance with the instructions of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador.
Accompanied by the Secretary of Tourism of Guerrero, Santos Ramírez Cuevas, the head of the Ministry of Tourism (Sectur) led the working meeting on the work of the organization of the Mexico 2024 Tourist Tianguis, which will be held in this destination, from the 8th to the 12th. April, where businessmen in the sector guaranteed the availability of rooms for buyers, exhibitors, media, among other attendees who will participate in the most important tourism fair in Latin America, which in its 48th edition returns to the destination that saw it. be born, and it will shine again stronger than ever.
Also, the conditions of the facilities to carry out the Mexico 2024 Tourist Tianguis in Acapulco were verified, in which the activities that are part of this great event will be carried out.
During the work tour in Acapulco, Torruco Marqués also held an important meeting with the business leadership of the Acapulco tourism sector, made up of presidents of chambers and associations, as well as businessmen in the sector, with the purpose of following up on the reactivation of the tourism infrastructure of the destination.
The Secretary of Tourism recognized the great work that has been done in Acapulco, and highlighted that today there is an air of optimism in the business sector, as well as confidence in the three levels of government, which in addition to private initiative work together. punctual and strategic manner in the rebirth of Acapulco.
He reiterated that his department is working on a series of actions that will strengthen tourism activity through the development of tourism products, international events, as well as tourism promotion actions.
He specified that in the first months of the year, international events will be held such as the Mexican Tennis Open, Smart World, the Olympic Wrestling Championship, the 87th Banking Convention, as well as congresses such as the National Congress of the Mexican Association of Veterinary Doctors. The head of Sectur pointed out that, at the next International Tourism Fair in Madrid, Spain (FITUR), a specific communication strategy will be undertaken, in coordination with Sectur Guerrero, as part of the promotional actions for Acapulco.
As part of the actions to promote the reactivation of Acapulco, the Undersecretary of Tourism, Humberto Hernández Haddad, led a virtual meeting with Javier Vázquez Durán, head of the Financial Institutions Unit of Nacional Financiera (Nafin) and the National Bank of Foreign Trade (Bancomext), Marian Aguirre Nienau, head of the Business Banking Unit of Bancomext and Roberto Revilla Ostos, director of Business Development and Technical Assistance of Nafin and Bancomext, who, following the instructions of the Secretary of Finance and Public Credit, explained the rules and procedures to obtain credits through commercial banks at zero rate, with a purse of up to 500 million pesos.
Nafin confirmed the participation of 8 banks that will be able to provide financing for up to 5 million pesos, without opening commission or prepayment penalty for small businesses in Acapulco and Coyuca de Benítez that were affected by Hurricane Otis.
