“Hand in hand with the Travel Agencies, we are working to promote in 2024 more destinations in our country that were previously not easy to access, for different reasons. It is important to understand that, in this sense, tourism not only benefits visitors, it is also a source of economic development for communities and that is why we are betting on diversifying the offer of the Agencies,” stated Paula Cortés Calle, executive president. by ANATO.
One of them is Guainía, a territory of extensive jungles with exotic landscapes where attractions such as the Cerros de Mavecure stand out, one of the oldest geological formations on earth and where there are three monoliths belonging to the Guayanés Shield (Pajarito, Mono and Mavecure). From there, you can enjoy a beautiful view of the jungle and rivers and appreciate exotic birds; Likewise, the department is home to the Puinawai National Natural Reserve, which is home to more than 180 species of mammals, reptiles and fish, as well as dark granite hills; and another of the attractions of this destination is the Mapiripana Raudal, a geological accident, in which the Guaviare River advances over a Mesozoic rock formation, making it ideal for extreme sports such as rafting.
Another place with significant potential for 2024 is Guaviare, a natural, cultural and sustainable tourist gem. There, it is possible to see cave paintings in the Serranía de la Lindosa; The Orion Gate is also located there, one of the most emblematic places in the area, it is a large formation 15 meters wide by 12 meters high, through which it is said that it is possible to observe Orion's Belt. Putumayo will also be an unmissable destination this year, thanks to its diversity of birds, more than 50% of the species that Colombia has are found in this area, and this is because this department belongs to the basin of the Amazon, which makes it have different ecosystems such as várzea, morichales, gallery forests, Andean and paramo. There is the Mandiyaco Canyon, a natural wonder generated by the river that crosses the rock formation of volcanic origin and allows you to observe different cut figures in the stones; There are also waterfalls such as Golondrino Mocoa, ideal for hiking; La Honda, which is on the banks of the Caquetá River, where you can do tubbing; and finally the waterfalls of the End of the World Mocoa, a majestic waterfall that is hidden in the middle of the Amazon jungle and is perfect for connecting with nature, listening to the birds and the water sources that are found between the mountains.
Finally, Caquetá also becomes a highly valuable destination to visit this year due to its natural, cultural and scientific wealth, and which offers the possibility of hiking, bird watching, visits to indigenous communities, among others. One of the activities offered by the department is the connection of visitors with the stories of farmers and inhabitants of the urban area to learn about the transformation process of the area that years ago was affected by violence; There is also the Stone of Enchantment, a huge petroglyph 16 meters high with engraved figures of snakes, lizards and monkeys.
“These are some of the destinations with a tourist vocation that ANATO, with its Travel Agencies and communities, will seek to promote during 2024. We want travelers to discover and appreciate these attractions, to be enriched by everything that Colombia has to show, while Together we build responsible and conscious tourism,” said the union leader.
