Spain Film Commission co-organises, together with IFEMA MADRID, the VI edition of FITUR Screen, the monographic section dedicated to screen tourism that will have a space in Pavilion 10 of 99 m2, on January 24, 25 and 26, 2024, three professional days of the International Tourism Fair. In this space, it will offer a personalized networking area and host an intense program focused on promoting screen tourism.
This new edition takes on the challenge of contributing to making Spain a global audiovisual hub and aims to become a platform that allows connecting the tourism and film industries through the dissemination of knowledge about screen tourism, commercial exchange between the different actors and the formulation of future proposals for the development of this sector in Spain.
FITUR Screen will have its own space, which includes an exhibition area with the offer of several participating agents, a B2B area and an area for the conference program. Different partners of the Spain Film Commission will participate in the 2024 edition, which will offer, over three days, an extensive program of activities.
Throughout these three days, FITUR Screen will hold three round tables on screen tourism trends and the importance of this powerful tourism promotion tool available to the territories that have been filming locations.
In addition, the recognitions of Ambassadors of Spain Film Commission 2024 and Best Production Spain Film Commission 2023 will be presented. Finally, the collaboration carried out between Spain Film Commission and the UNWTO (World Tourism Organization) for the boosting screen tourism.
Spain Screen Grand Tour, first national project that promotes screen tourism
One of the key points of the program will be the exhibition of Spain Screen Grand Tour, the first national tourist information project on destinations that have hosted filming of films, series, documentaries, video clips, etc. An audiovisual production, in addition to its impact on the local economy, is a powerful tourism promotion tool that provides enormous visibility to the territories. This project, about to celebrate its first anniversary, brings together two successful industries in our country, tourism and audiovisual, generating value for the Spain brand and contributing to the dissemination of the image of the country and Spanish culture through the cinema.
During this new edition of FITUR Screen, the progress and future perspectives of this project will be shown, which includes a website with inspiring content for travelers and the first geolocation map of screen destinations in our country. Thanks to this map, in constant evolution, tourists will be able to tour Spain through filming and productions and discover every corner with a special, unique and different perspective.
The association will also present the collaboration carried out with UNWTO to promote screen tourism, after a few months ago and after the selection by the UNWTO of the project, Spain Screen Grand Tour was presented within the framework of the 25th meeting of the UNWTO General Assembly in Uzbekistan.
FITUR Screen 2024 round tables on January 25 and 26, 2024
Three round tables will be organized on trends in screen tourism, the powerful tourism promotion tool available to territories that have been filming locations to highlight their differentiation and visibility.
On Thursday, January 25, the table “Screen tourism, an international consumer trend” will take place, which seeks to show the current situation of this growing tourist hub from a national and international perspective.
On Friday, January 26, the table “Cinema-buff travelers or traveling movie-buffs?” will be held, which will feature the perspective of leaders from the world of communication who will analyze the media impact of screen tourism.
That same day, the third of the debate tables is organized, “The filming, the best promotional campaign for a destination”, with the tourist agents as protagonists who will show the strength of a production as an attraction for today's tourist.
Ambassadors of Spain Film Commission 2024
FITUR Screen will be the scene of the official presentation of the new Honorary Ambassadors of the association. These personalities will thus join the list of professionals in the sector who collaborate with the Spain Film Commission in the promotion of the Spanish audiovisual industry. In previous years, personalities such as the former United States ambassador to Spain James Costos, the actress Aitana Sánchez Gijón, the actress Emily Blunt, the director of photography Javier Aguirresarobe, the Indian producer Ramji Natarajan, the filmmaker Terry Gilliam, the senior vice president of NBC Universal Veronica Sullivan or vice president of international co-productions at Sony Pictures Brendan Fitzgerald.
Spain Film Commission will also present the recognition for “Best Production of 2023”, which highlights the potential of that national or international audiovisual production filmed in Spain that disseminates the representative locations of the country, that has included Spanish companies and professionals and that , due to its significance, has had a great impact. “La casa de papel”, “La peste”, “The Crown”, “Maixabel” and “I'm going to have a good time” received this same award in previous years, which has established itself as a prestigious reference in the national and international audiovisual sector. international.
