The preview of the most famous Carnival in the world has already begun in Rio de Janeiro

The Christmas and New Year celebrations have barely ended, but in Rio de Janeiro the calendar of free attractions for Carnival 2024 has already been made official, in which some 5 million participants are expected, including locals and tourists

The local tourism secretariat, Riotur, gave the starting signal to the celebrations from the second week of January: 453 authorized troupes (blocos), and among them, 10 megablocos, as those that attract more than 100 thousand people are considered. to dance in the streets.

According to the Rio government, the largest concentration of blocos will take place between February 7 and 14, with 244 parades. The official opening of the Carnival will be on Saturday, January 20, with the parade of the Carrossel de Emoções troupe on Rua Primeiro de Março, 57, in the city center. Most of the troupes are daytime and start first thing in the morning, for example:

Cordão do Bola Preta: February 10 - Carnival Saturday. Concentration: Rua Primeiro de Março, 66 - Center. Concentration time: 7:00. Parade schedule: 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.  

Fervo da Lud: February 13 - Carnival Tuesday. Concentration: Rua Primeiro de Março, 66 - Center. Concentration time: 7:00. Parade schedule: from 9:00 to 12:00

In addition to the traditional rehearsals in the samba school sheds, Rio offers an extra attraction: free access to rehearsals at the Sambadrome. Access is even allowed with snacks for personal consumption, but glass containers are prohibited. The times to witness the technical rehearsals are from 8:30 p.m. on the following days:
