Puerto Vallarta closed 2023 with record figures in tourism

Official figures from the State Government indicate several records achieved

According to official data from the Tourist Information System of the State of Jalisco, in 2023 Puerto Vallarta reached historic figures in the most significant areas for a tourist destination, such as the influx of tourists, economic benefits, employment and arriving passengers. by air, sea and land.

Regarding the tourist influx of Puerto Vallarta, in 2022 it had a rebound after the end of the pandemic, reaching 5.91 million. In 2023, all records were broken, with the number of tourists rising to 6.04 million, which represents a 2.2% increase compared to the previous year and the highest number in the history of Puerto Vallarta.

Regarding the economic impact that this produced, in 2022 $40,400 million were recorded and in 2023 that figure was exceeded, reaching $41,322 million pesos, that is, there was an increase of 2.3% in income, reaching another historical record for this destination. tourist.

Also notable is the number of visitors who came to the city by plane, cruise ship and passenger bus. In 2022, an average of 4.05 million tourists received was recorded and 2023 surpassed all previous years with 4.46 million arrivals, which translates into a growth of 10.1% in this area. 3.38 million arrived by air, 530,202 by land and 543,609 by cruise ship, the latter being the fastest growing with a 15.69% increase.

Another item that had a positive behavior is the percentage of hotel occupancy, which in 2023 remained practically the same percentage as last year. In this line, we must consider the increases in the supply of hotel rooms, which grows every year with the inauguration of new properties, expansions of existing ones, accommodation through digital platforms and other alternatives.

Last but not least, employment rates were favored. In 2022, the figure of almost 139 thousand employees was reached and in 2023 the increase was notable, reaching just over 148 thousand formal jobs, a figure that represents an increase of almost 6.5% compared to the same period of the previous year.
