Miguel Torruco Marqués, announced that in the 44th edition of the International Tourism Fair (FITUR 2024), to be held from January 24 to 28 at the Ifema fairgrounds, in Madrid, Spain, Mexico will have an important participation with a pavilion greater than a thousand square meters, where a large delegation of authorities and businessmen in the sector will present the tourist offer of our country.
In a press conference held at the Mexican Embassy in Spain, in the city of Madrid, the head of the Ministry of Tourism (Sectur) highlighted the great results of the tourism sector in our country, and therefore the importance of participating in this event. , being the most important tourist fair in Latin America, where the main tour operators of Spain meet, positioned as the fifth country that sends international tourists to Mexico; from Europe and other regions of the world, which will help boost the arrival of travelers to Mexico and detonate the economic impact on tourist destinations.
Accompanied by the president of the Association of Tourism Secretaries (Asetur), and Secretary of Tourism of Nayarit, Juan Enrique Suárez del Real Tostado, Torruco Marqués pointed out that the Mexican pavilion at FITUR 2024 will have around 100 booths, 14 areas called ' corners', as well as five offices and two lounges, among other areas where business appointments and meetings will be held whose purpose is to reach agreements that detonate tourist activity in our country.
The delegation from Mexico that will participate in this important fair includes the participation of more than 100 exhibitors, including representatives of states, destinations, tour operators, travel agencies, associations and hotel chains, airlines, to name a few.
During the work tour on the occasion of FITUR 2024, the Secretary of Tourism will be accompanied by the ambassador of Mexico in Spain, Quirino Ordaz Coppel, as well as the person in charge of Economic, Commercial and Promotion Affairs of the Embassy of Mexico in Spain, Óscar Pérez Muds.
20 federal entities of the country will attend with a delegation, as well as destinations such as Playa del Carmen, Guadalajara, Puerto Vallarta, Ixtapa Zihuatanejo and Benito Juárez (Cancún).
Torruco Marqués indicated that at FITUR 2024, there will once again be a space focused on the Mayan Train, as was held last year; However, now with two sections in operation that were inaugurated by President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, this emblematic work is now a reality.
He highlighted that this work will connect the states of Chiapas, Tabasco, Campeche, Yucatán and Quintana Roo, on a route of 1,554 kilometers, where 117 high-impact tourist attractions are located.
He stressed that another of the objectives of participation in this important fair is the positioning and rebirth of Acapulco, before the main tour operators in Spain and the world, as an international tourist destination, as it was for many years, and that after the passage of Hurricane Otis, the authorities of the three levels of government and the tourism business sector closed ranks to achieve the prompt and expeditious recovery of this destination, so that it shines again as in its best times.
In this sense, he pointed out that the Guerrero port will host the 48th edition of the Tianguis Turístico México 2024, from April 8 to 12, as it is the destination that saw the birth of the most important tourist fair in Latin America; and that will demonstrate to international tour operators that it is ready to receive their travelers.
Before the media, he presented the song Acapulco Renacerá , which is part of the strategy to promote and reactivate tourist activity in this important destination.
On the first day of activities of the tour of Spain, Torruco Marqués held a meeting with the president of the Mexico and Spain Business Association (AEMEES), Ángela de Miguel, and members of this organization; as well as with the president of AMPI Cancún and CEO of Lemmus Inver México, Miguel Ángel Lemus Mateos, with whom he signed a Collaboration Agreement to promote investment in Mexico.
Before more than 22 operators, he emphasized that in 2022 Mexico registered a historic Foreign Direct Tourism Investment of 4,472.4 million dollars, this is 260% higher than that captured in 2019.
As part of his participation in FITUR 2024, the Secretary of Tourism will hold a series of important meetings with the most important global authorities in the sector, including the Secretary General of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), Zurab Pololikashvili.
Also, he will participate in the XXVII Ibero-American Conference of Ministers and Entrepreneurs of Tourism CIMET 2024, where he will dialogue with his counterparts and important representatives of the international tourism sector, to address topics of relevance and interest for tourism activity in different destinations around the world.
Likewise, he will have a working meeting with the authorities of the Spanish Ministry of Industry and Tourism, headed by Minister Jordi Hereu Boher; with the presence of the Secretary of State for Tourism, Rosa Ana Morillo Rodríguez; and the director of Turespaña, Miguel Sanz Castedo.
Torruco Marqués will also hold a meeting with directors of Inverotel, an organization chaired by Encarnación Piñero, and which brings together important hotel chains in Spain, which have a strong presence in our country, especially in Quintana Roo, and with whom he will discuss the potential of Mexico to attract investments, as well as tourism projects and products developed to attract more travelers and economic benefits.
At FITUR 2024, the head of Sectur will also participate in various press conferences, relevant announcements, presentations, among other events where the actions promoted by the agency under his charge will be announced, as well as those undertaken by local governments and the private initiative, through which Mexico is consolidated as an international tourism power, for the benefit of the population, and thus fulfill the instruction of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, to make tourism a tool of social reconciliation.
