Carrasco Airport recorded a historic passenger record in January

The country's main air terminal exceeded the historical figure, registering more than 200,000 passengers during the first month of the year

During the month of January 2024, the Carrasco International Airport registered a historical record of 201,338 passengers.

The level of connectivity, with a greater number of frequencies and a higher occupancy level on each flight, is the factor that explains the record reached, which surpassed the previous mark of 197,763 passengers, corresponding to the month of January 2012.

Currently, 12 airlines operate at Carrasco Airport, connecting the country directly with 17 destinations around the world, Madrid, Panama, Asunción, Santiago de Chile, Lima, San Pablo, Buenos Aires Aeroparque and Ezeiza, Bogotá, Porto Alegre , Recife, Rio de Janeiro, Miami, Salvador de Bahía, Florianópolis, Bariloche and Curitiba, with a total of 168 weekly frequencies.

Carrasco Airport is part of Aeropuertos Uruguay, of the Corporación América Airports group, which also manages the Punta del Este Airport. In addition, the company is carrying out the development of the National System of International Airports to modernize six airports throughout the country. After inaugurating the new Carmelo and Rivera airports, the company plans to inaugurate the works on the Salto, Melo, Paysandú and Durazno airports.
