In this context, Travel2latam spoke with Jesús Carmona, President of the Bahía de Banderas Hotels and Motels Association.

What does Bay of Flags entail?

The commercial name is Riviera Nayarit. This is where tourism began in the state of Nayarit. We are 15 minutes from the airport, which is located in Puerto Vallarta, and provides service to both destinations, both Puerto Vallarta and Riviera Nayarit. We have 145 hotels throughout the Riviera Nayarit, which is the entire hotel zone in Paseo de los Cocoteros, where you have 3 to 5 star hotels.

And from there you go north, with different towns like Bucerías, which was A fishing town and now has hotels and real estate developments, then you have another town with a lot of charisma, which is Cruz de Guanacaste, with a lot of Mexican flavor and with an average of 80% Canadian and American visitors.

And from there, you continue to the best level area that competes with other destinations, such as Los Cabos, which is Punta Mita, where you have an Àngels hotel or the Four Seasons and that is where investments in general of 800 to 1000 million dollars go. upcoming hotel chains to be built.

Can we say that Riviera Nayarit is currently booming because visitor numbers are higher?

Logically, they are growth in high percentages. The growth has been very considerable since we started the brand in 2007. Today we have an identity, an image.

We have worked above all with the new Ministry of Tourism, to maintain the image of Riviera Nayarit, but also to push and exploit what the state of Nayarit has to offer with its magical towns. For example, San Blas, which does not have a beach but is in the mountains, has the Santa María del Oro Lagoon, which is beautiful. On the part of our Secretary of Tourism, Juan Enrique Suárez, extraordinary work has been done to continue pushing the Nayarit brand, and Riviera Nayarit, which was the one that put us on the map.
