The Brazilian tourism sector will boost its international tourism in South America with the Visit Brazil Roadshow, which will take place from February 19 to 27 and will bring together operators, travel agents and tourism professionals for training, seeking to expand and strengthen knowledge regarding the diversity of the destinations of the largest country in the region.

Regional markets represent almost half of the total foreign tourists that Brazil received in 2023, approximately six million visitors, thus recovering pre-pandemic levels. Nearly 2.9 million South American tourists entered the country last year, representing an increase of 85% compared to 2022.

"South America, due to its geographical and cultural proximity, is the one that can most easily access the diversity of our destinations. We have worked hard to expand air connectivity and strengthen land routes, and this roadshow fulfills a important role in presenting to tour operators all the diversity that Brazil has to offer, from sun and sand, resorts, to culture, nature, adventure and gastronomy," explained the president of the Brazilian Agency for International Tourism Promotion (Embratur), Marcelo Freixo.

According to Alexandre Nakagawa, Manager of Meetings, Incentives and International Business Tourism (MICE) at Embratur, this initiative is part of a series of actions by Brazil to expand dialogue with the sector and strengthen Brazil's presence and image in Latin America. "Our greatest strength in tourism is in South America. Therefore, we must increase knowledge about our destinations, showing more and more our diversity, culture, gastronomy and, of course, our paradisiacal beaches that enchant from the South to the North of the country With the roadshow, we will expand our range of businesses and attract more and more international tourists," he explains.

Embratur also promoted agreements to expand connectivity to several Brazilian destinations with various airlines. In total, there are 36 weekly flights that connect the countries where the Visit Brazil roadshow will take place with 54 direct routes, which represents more than 17 thousand daily seats for tourists from Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Peru and Uruguay.

To bring the best of Brazil to South America, representatives from the following destinations will be present:

Ceará;
São Paulo;
Salvador y Bahía;
Goiás;
Belo Horizonte;
São Luís;
Alagoas;
Pernambuco;
Curitiba, Foz do Iguaçu and Paraná;
Large northern river.

In addition, participants will be able to count on the help of Brazilian operators 5senses Lifestyle, Ehtl Viagens, Infinitas Travel Dmc, Itaparica Tour Operator & Dmc, Journeys Dmc, Personal Brasil Incoming Dmc, Rio Del Cristo Turismo, Tourmed Dmc, Vivalá and Compass Brazil. The hotel chains Windsor Hoteis and Hotel Vila Da Santa are also collaborators in this action.

Record year for Brazil

International tourists who visited Brazil in 2023 left a total of US$6.9 billion (34.5 trillion reais) in the country, according to data from the Central Bank (Bacen). This value exceeds by 1.5% the highest collection from international tourism recorded in 2014, the year in which the country hosted the Soccer World Cup, when the figure was US$6.8 billion.

"This historic result is the result of the work carried out by Lula's government, which reconnected Brazil with the world after 4 years of international isolation. The president always affirms that the Brazil of democracy, diversity, sustainability and respect has returned; the world understood the message and is embracing our country. We are very proud to be part of this story and to be able to make tourism generate employment, income and improve the lives of Brazilians," said the president of Embratur, Marcelo Freixo. .

Last year's numbers reflect Brazil's effort to regain its prominence internationally, including in tourism. Enjoy, live and feel a spectacular Brazil. This was the concept of Embratur's campaign to promote Brazil with a focus on Latin America. In the videos and pieces, tourists will find the diversity of Brazilian destinations and experiences to enjoy Brazil, with lots of sun, beach, nature, ecotourism and culture. In addition to Argentina, the campaign will be broadcast in Chile, Paraguay, Colombia, Peru and Mexico.

Last year, six Press Trips were carried out with the aim of promoting and disseminating Brazilian destinations. Journalists from Argentina, Chile and Peru were able to visit destinations in Bahia, Pará, Goiás, Distrito Federal, Mato Grosso, Minas Gerais, Alagoas and Rio de Janeiro.

The dates of the Visit Brazil Roadshow will be the following:

Montevideo, Uruguay: February 19;
Buenos Aires, Argentina: February 20;
Santiago, Chile: February 22;
Lima, Peru: February 26;
Bogotá, Colombia: February 27.

The Visit Brazil Roadshow is a collaboration between Embratur and Sebrae (Brazilian Support Service for Micro and Small Businesses), with the support of the Ministry of Tourism, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Brazilian diplomatic representations abroad. The action will continue throughout the first half of the year with Embratur's participation in five other international tourism fairs in the United States and Europe.
