The Municipal Tourism and Culture Entity of Mar del Plata reported the official numbers of arrivals that occurred in the city during the carnival weekend – from Thursday the 8th to Sunday the 11th -. Bernardo Martin, President of EMTURYC, highlighted that “237,967 tourists arrived in the city.”
“We experienced a long weekend with almost 80% occupancy thanks to the multiple proposals that different sectors generated in the city. Despite the storm that occurred in the first days, many chose Mar del Plata, generating movement that translates into more work for the region,” added Bernardo Martín.
“In addition, more than 300,000 people enjoyed the first-class recitals organized by the private sector to commemorate the 150 years of Mar del Plata with artists such as La Joaqui, Los Totora, Los Palmeras, the duo Pimpinela and the most beautiful party in the world , the famous Bresh,” he added.
Likewise, the president of the Tourism and Culture Entity highlighted that "we are going to deepen the work with the private sector to continue the path we have marked: more events and proposals so that tourism reaches Mar del Plata throughout the year."
"As for global hotel occupancy, during the carnival weekend it was 79.1%, with a daily average of 39,369 beds occupied," said the head of EMTURYC.
“ In relation to the means of transportation used by visitors to get to Mar del Plata, 84% did so by car; 12.3% by bus; 2.41% did so by train and 1.3% by plane. Compared to the same period of the previous year, a decrease of 23.5% could be noted in the number of people who chose the bus to arrive in the city, while the plane grew by 23.8% due to the greater number of flights received. with the increase in the frequencies of Aerolíneas Argentinas flights and the incorporation of Flybondi with the AEP - MDQ route,” Martin concluded.
