Salto International Airport inaugurated with new infrastructure and services

On February 23, the new Salto International Airport “Nueva Hespérides” will be inaugurated, with the presence of the President of the Republic, Luis Lacalle Pou, as well as national and departmental authorities

The launch of the new airport represents another step in the development of the National System of International Airports carried out by the company.

The modernization works in infrastructure, technology, security and services included the construction of a new passenger terminal, LED beacon and lighting systems, visual aid systems, as well as the resurfacing of the runway and platform, among other actions aimed at transform the Salto airport into a modern, safe aerodrome, aligned to international standards.

The entry into operation of the new Salto Airport will take place after the company inaugurated the first binational airport in Latin America and the second in the world in Rivera, just over a year after the modernization of the Carmelo Airport.

Aeropuertos Uruguay is part of the Corporación América Airports group, which manages the airports of Carrasco, Punta del Este, Carmelo, Rivera, Salto, Durazno, Melo and Paysandú.
