In this context, Travel2latam spoke with Shirley Guerrero, Sales Director for Central America, Colombia and Ecuador at RCD Hotels.
How has the experience of participating in the Showcase been?
The volume of visitors has increased with great success, and this opportunity has been very good because we came to Colombia and launched our AVA Resort Cancún both in Medellín, which is one of the cities that buys the most from us, and here in Bogotá . We have a new hotel every year and that is the great challenge. It is our new baby with 1622 rooms, all facing the sea. A super top hotel in the highest category for families and all inclusive. There has been a great reception and people are very excited. The launch will be on June 27 for clients and individuals, and for groups it will open in August.
What other details can you give us about this property?
A large amount of millions was invested for a technology that was brought from Dubai and Chile. Instead of a swimming pool, we are going to have an artificial lagoon that is treated with biodegradable products. We have only 2% environmental pollution, and the lagoon will be recycled every 3 years. In addition, there are 8 swimming pools throughout. There are pools for adults, for children, and there is even one that we are going to call “The cenote” because it is going to be a hydra pool with the color of the typical cenote that we have in Cancun. We are going to have a lunch area for our potential clients, teenagers between 13 and 17 years old. In addition, we have a capacity between 80 to 100 children that we can take care of at night while their parents make reservations at our super top restaurants. It will also have an exclusive chef, and a cafeteria where Mexican coffee is ground directly. The hotel is located lengthwise, so one side faces Cancun, and the other faces Tulum, and absolutely all the rooms face the sea, as do the convention halls and restaurants.
Which RCD properties are the most sought after by Colombian tourists?
For the Colombian, Hard Rock Casino Punta Cana, Cancun and Riviera Maya. And in a very high sector also the own brand that we have called UNICO 20°87° and which is only for adults in Riviera Maya. We have a fairly extensive portfolio, and for those who do not want to be tied to an all-inclusive, we have properties in Cancun and Playa del Carmen that make you feel practically like you are in an Airbnb, but in total security. They have complimentary breakfast, parking for those who want to go to the parks and have total freedom. Within the RCD portfolio there are very special brands and each one with its special touch.
What forecast do you have for the end of the year in terms of growth?
There are 9 or 10 hotels that we will already have with AVA and there is a projection of future UNICO 20°87° in Jamaica, Vallarta, Punta Cana. There is a lot ahead and a lot of expansion always towards the all-inclusive luxury sector.
