As part of Routes Americas 2024, last Monday, March 18, the tourism authorities of Antigua and Barbuda held a welcome cocktail at the Hyatt Place Bogotá hotel. The event was attended by the Honorable Minister Charles Fernandez and Charmaine Spencer, Director of Tourism for the Caribbean and Latin America, among other members of the delegation. 

During the event, the destination authorities emphasized their interest in strengthening ties with airlines in order to achieve better connectivity with the region. Likewise, they highlighted the importance of all the actors involved in tourism such as public and private entities and tour operators to reaffirm their presence both in Colombia and in the rest of Latin America. 

With a clear focus of interest in continuing to join forces to strengthen trade relations with Latin America, the Minister highlighted “our participation in Routes Americas here in Bogotá represents an incredible opportunity. We expanded our presence in Latin America by improving our connectivity through the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico. In addition, we have been working together with strategic allies in hospitality and increasing our commitment to Latin American tour operators in training to offer spectacular tourism offers in Antigua and Barbuda, and all with excellent results: the Latin American tourism market has shown a growth of 32% in 2023.” In turn, the Minister made reference to the different ventures in the hospitality area that continue to strengthen the hotel offer in the destination.

Antigua and Barbuda has 365 beaches, unique attractions and a varied culinary offering, but, in addition, this tropical paradise is recognized for being a romantic destination par excellence. “The warmth of Antigua and Barbuda extends beyond the tropical climate, it also emanates from its friendly people.
