Uruguay hosts the Global Responsible Wine Tourism Summit

For three days, exchanges will be generated between professionals and businessmen of the wine industry worldwide, experts in tourism, gastronomy, suppliers, intermediaries and final consumers

The Ministry of Tourism together with the World Wine Tourism Organization are responsible for organizing an event that brings together world leaders in the wine industry, to disseminate responsible practices, business innovation and synergies between professionals and businessmen in the sector. The Global Wine Tourism Summit takes place at the Enjoy Hotel in Punta del Este with business events, academic sessions and exhibitions.

At the Enjoy hotel, there will be business meetings, academic sessions with national and international experts, an exhibition area for the dissemination of tourism products and a calendar of activities to bring together leaders of the wine and tourism industry, oenologists, sommeliers and gastronomic sector groups.

The Minister of Tourism, Eduardo Sanguinetti, highlighted that this summit represents a significant milestone in the development of wine tourism worldwide and more specifically in the promotion of Uruguay as a wine tourism destination of excellence.

“We are delighted to be hosting this event of great international importance and we want to thank the World Wine Tourism Organization for trusting us to host this first summit.

Wine tourism not only gives us the opportunity to enjoy the best wines in unique environments, but also drives the socioeconomic development of our wine regions, promotes local culture and strengthens ties between producers, entrepreneurs and wine lovers from around the world. .”

We must highlight the important support of the National Institute of Viticulture, the municipalities of Canelones, Colonia, Maldonado and Montevideo along with all the Uruguayan wineries in those departments.

The agenda will also include a visit to several wineries where more than 300 participants of nationalities from Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Mexico, Spain, China, Italy, Peru, USA, Greece, Russia, France, Georgia, Qatar and Uruguay will get to know and see in first person the various jobs that winemakers carry out with their families.
