Last Thursday, March 21, the fifteenth anniversary of the Puerto Vallarta Convention Center was celebrated with a great event that brought together municipal and state authorities, directors of the airport and the bus station, presidents of chambers and local associations, hoteliers, representatives from hospitals, doctors, specialty schools, wedding planners and the media.
Inaugurated in 2009 with the first Gala Puerto Vallarta - Riviera Nayarit, this venue came to give a great boost to the Meetings Tourism segment in the region. Proof of this was the designation of Puerto Vallarta in 2012 to be the first traveling headquarters of the Mexican Tourist Tianguis. Since then, this destination is one of the most requested for all types of events.
The anniversary celebration began with a welcome message from the director of the Puerto Vallarta Tourism Trust, Lic. Luis Villaseñor , who highlighted the union and effort of all those involved in the destination's value chain to reach these fifteen years. of constant growth.
He also announced the creation of the group and convention management, headed by Ms. Laura Suárez, who since her recent incorporation to the Trust has met with meeting planners, conference organization specialists (PCOs, for their acronym in English) and medical associations to inform them of the support and incentives available when holding events in the Meetings Tourism segment in Puerto Vallarta , giving with these and other actions a new boost to the sector.
In his participation, the municipal president, Lic. Francisco Martínez, recognized the work of the State Government and the Tourism Trust in promoting the destination and reiterated the commitment of the municipal council to continue working hand in hand to continue achieving great results as until now.
To close the protocol event, the director of the Convention Center, Mario Barriga, announced that 2023 was the year with the most events held at the venue. At the end of his speech, the authorities and attendees were invited to take a tour of the facilities so that they could appreciate all the improvements made during the recent renovation of the property.
On November 22, 2023, these corrective and preventive rehabilitation works were completed, which included replacement of the solar protection film on the façade, internal lighting, damaged marble floor tiles, fire alarm network and carpet throughout the premises; installation of independent air conditioners in upstairs rooms, construction of a machine room for new equipment and provision of access from the kitchen area to the esplanade; general waterproofing and application of paint on pergolas, entrance structure and sails, for a total investment of $27.5 million pesos.
