The ideal season begins to encourage religious tourism in Colombia

During the Holy Week, national and international tourists take the opportunity to visit and learn about places related to the segment of religious tourism, which allows them to immerse themselves in the culture and traditions of a cult

Colombia has emblematic places such as the Primada Cathedral, in the Plaza de Bolívar in Bogotá, declared a Site of Cultural Interest by the Ministry of Culture; The Minor Basilica of the Lord of Miracles, located in the Guadalajara municipality of Buga, recently recognized for being the first national tourist destination to join the World Religious Tourism Network; The Basilica of Our Lady of the Rosary of Chiquinquirá, where the painting of the Virgin of the Rosary is located, which underwent the miracle of renovation in 1586; and The Cathedral of the Sagrada Familia, located in Bucaramanga, which stands out for its imposing structure and its architectural details. 
 
"Travel Agencies have been prepared to design tourist packages, thinking about the preferences of travelers looking for new experiences in different destinations in our country, this allows stimulating domestic and inbound tourism." Paula Cortés Calle, executive president of ANATO. 

Among the destinations that have an offer in this segment are: Ciénaga de Oro, municipality of Córdoba, where they have a traditional celebration that has been forged from the union of different cults throughout history; Thanks to the multiple knowledge and popular arts, it makes it an ideal destination to live this season. Popayán, Cauca; with its traditional celebration, through processions, declared Intangible Cultural Heritage by UNESCO, which take place during the week, made up of different biblical representations, through statues.

“Without a doubt, the tourist attractions that our country has position it as a reference for pilgrimage. Due to its cultural richness, it allows generating interest among local and foreign visitors, with the help of a wide offer in different regions.” The union leader concluded.
