Enjoy Punta del Este brought together 16 countries at the first Global Summit on Responsible Wine Tourism

Creating a collaborative space for the different actors in wine tourism to propose tangible solutions and generate a dynamic and enriching exchange of ideas was the mission of the first global Responsible Wine Tourism Summit that took place at Enjoy Punta del Este. 

The event, which brought together 16 countries, included 80 speakers from various areas who carried out a series of meetings and conferences on a wide range of topics; such as gastronomy, architecture, marketing, promotion and nature. 

The initiative - promoted by the World Organization of Wine Tourism (OMET) together with the Ministry of Tourism of Uruguay, Enjoy Punta del Este, Grupo Ellis (OPC) designated for the organization and INAVI (National Institute of Viticulture) - was attended by the minister of Tourism, Eduardo Sanguinetti, and the undersecretary of the portfolio, Remo Monzeglio, as well as the advisor to the Ministry Arnaldo Nardone and the president of OMET, the Spanish José Antonio Vidal. 

This first edition brought together more than 500 people from all over the world, including experts, businessmen, fans and tour operators, who had the opportunity to participate in 198 business rounds, in addition to academic activities, access to the commercial exhibition, technical visits to wineries and entry to exclusive events. 

“The wine tourism industry has been growing extremely significantly worldwide. In our country and in Maldonado in particular, we have enormous potential, and we believe that this Summit will be a before and after for it, since it allowed us to be a “showcase” for almost a week and show what we have to offer. There were 11 technical visits to wineries, in addition to the conferences and exhibitions of the main wineries and regions within Uruguay,” commented Javier Azcurra, director of institutional relations and sales at Enjoy Punta del Este, who presented the “Punta Wine Trips” on a panel. , the wine tourism package that the casino & resort has been marketing since 2022. 

After confirming the development of the second edition of this meeting that will be held next year in China, Enjoy Punta del Este announced the celebration of the third edition of its Uruguayan Wine Show between May 31 and June 1.
