Expotur 2024: Tourist buyers from around the world will visit Costa Rica to strengthen the country's tourism

Managers who organize trips in international companies, influential wholesalers and renowned OTAs with extensive experience come together to chart the future of tourism in the country

Managers who organize the trips of executive staff from large companies in the world will come to the country as part of the buyers who will attend Expotur 2024, which will take place from May 8 to 11.

This was confirmed by the Costa Rican Institute of Tourism (ICT) and the Costa Rican Association of Tourism Professionals (ACOPROT) a few weeks before the official tourism marketing event with the longest history in the country begins.

The president of ACOPROT, Yadyra Simón, indicated that there is a lot of optimism because for Expotur 2024 new purchasing companies with recognized international experience have turned their eyes to our destination with great interest and will be participating. 

The oldest exchange in the Latin American region will be attended by some of the most recognized wholesalers in the world who move thousands of tourists and who have historically had a positive impact on the growth of tourism in Costa Rica. 

The Marketing Director of the ICT, Carolina Trejos, stated that “this renewed version of EXPOTUR 2024 constitutes a marketing exchange and a platform that contributes to strengthening the marketing strategy and positioning of Costa Rica in its main source markets, facilitating outreach opportunities. direct, one on one with high-level wholesalers so that tourism companies establish meaningful connections, tangible businesses and contribute to economic development, showing the most innovative of the Costa Rican tourism product throughout the country.”

According to Simón, as part of the diversification proposal for 2024, they will also bring companies with a long history, well-known OTAs in tourism (the acronym comes from the English Online Travel Agency), which are online travel agencies that allow travelers to book a hotel or rent a vehicle using the Internet platform. 

“To seek success, very successful dating management is carried out where what is known as the perfect match is prioritized; That is, when the buyer is interested in the seller's product and the seller meets the appropriate profile of the product that the buyer is looking for. It is known that way because there is a possibility of reaching a successful negotiation, since there is an interest on both sides,” said Simón.

The 2024 Edition “Return to Essentials” presents a totally innovative concept that focuses on tourism marketing and business generation. It guarantees each participating company at least 24 highly effective business appointments and numerous networking opportunities with a group of international buyers selected under a strict qualification process. These buyers represent both traditional and emerging markets for our tourism product in Costa Rica.

In this edition, which is focused on negotiation or marketing, we also wanted international buyers to find a series of experiences that allow them to learn a little more about what our country is about. The intention is to provide a significant representation of the rich gastronomic culture and Costa Rican idiosyncrasy. On this trip, experiences related to coffee and cocoa will be explored, as well as the appreciation of our art, including cultural expressions such as dance and painting.

In Expotur 2024, the following will participate as sellers from the country: hoteliers, tour operators, DMCs, self-renters, theme and adventure parks, and other companies directly related to the national tourism product.

Expotur is the official tourism marketing event of Costa Rica, declared of public interest under decree #17563-MEC of June 17, 1987 and represents the country's tourism event with the longest history, celebrating 37 editions.
