Following its debut last year, The World's 50 Best Hotels will once again return to London, UK in September 2024, with a multi-day program of events culminating in the industry's most anticipated annual awards ceremony on Tuesday the 17th. September 2024. The World's 50 Best Hotels joined the established lists of The World's 50 Best Restaurants and The World's 50 Best Bars in 2023, with the inaugural ranking crowning Passalacqua on Lake Como as the first establishment in obtain the title of The World's Best Hotel. occupying the No.1 position. 

Following a successful launch in 2023 in London, the event program and awards ceremony will once again unite the travel and hospitality community from all corners of the globe in recognition of the world's best hotels. The list and awards will highlight outstanding global hospitality experiences that will shape the aspirations of consumers, travelers and hoteliers alike. The World's 50 Best Hotels will be an unparalleled celebration, taking place over several days and will include new events as part of the program, which will be announced later.

Highlights of the ceremony program will include the Welcome to London event and The Opening Banquet, which will take place the night before the reveal of The World's 50 Best Hotels 2024; This will give the hoteliers behind the 50 properties on the list the opportunity to meet with their peers from around the world. For the first time, 50 Best will bring its thought leadership forum, #50BestTalks, to The World's 50 Best Hotels, designed to give hoteliers and travel experts a platform to discuss trends and innovative topics of interest in the industry. A captivating awards ceremony will follow, featuring red carpet arrivals and interviews, a drinks reception, the ceremony and the countdown itself. Following the awards reveal, a press conference will be held with representatives of The World's Best Hotel and other special award winners. Celebrating the second year of the ranking, two new award categories will be added to this year's awards ceremony: Highest New Entry Award and Highest Climber Award. In the months leading up to the September awards, several special award winners will be announced.

Any hotel in the world is eligible to be voted; You don't have to meet any criteria or check any pre-established boxes to be considered. The awards are not held in the "pay to play" format, that is, the venues themselves will not have to pay to participate in the awards, nor buy tickets for the events, nor invest a tax amount in the nomination process.

The World's 50 Best Hotels 2024 will be revealed as part of a live countdown from No.50 to No.1, concluding with the hotel being proclaimed The World's Best Hotel. The ranking will be accompanied by a series of special awards and will reflect the best travel experiences in the world, compiled from the votes of 600 anonymous experts. This voting panel (the 50 Best Hotels Academy) is made up of a balanced range of hoteliers, travel journalists, educators and experienced luxury travelers, led by a group of industry-leading Academy presidents.

How 50 Best voting works

The Academy's nine presidents select a voting panel from their region, ensuring a balance of hoteliers, travel journalists, hospitality educators and experienced luxury travelers. Each Academy member can vote for any hotel they have stayed in in the world, regardless of their region of origin. Each voter casts seven votes for hotels in order of preference based on stays experienced in the two-year voting period through April 2024. Voting is conducted individually and strictly confidential at a secure site, and is kept the confidential nature prior to the announcement of the list. The Presidents of the Academy are not aware of or aware of the votes cast by the voters of their respective regions; Furthermore, they are not official spokespersons for the 50 Best brand. 

The Academy is the mechanism used to generate The World's 50 Best Hotels list. None of 50 Best employees or any sponsor associated with the awards has any influence over the results. To ensure that the Academy's more than 580 voters fairly represent the global hospitality landscape, the Academy presidents are divided into nine geographic regions and each has been selected as an expert in the tourism field in their region, with Prominent contacts in the hotel sector. The Presidents elect a voting panel and ensure a balanced selection of hoteliers, travel journalists, hospitality educators, business travelers and travel-loving consumers. A minimum of 25% of the panel will be renewed each year. All voters, except Academy Presidents, will remain anonymous to eliminate the possibility of lobbying.
