The Central American Tourism Promotion Agency (CATA), in collaboration with the Regional Center for the Promotion of MSMEs (CENPROMYPE) and the Secretariat of Central American Tourism Integration (SITCA), have started a new cycle of cooperation with the Republic of China (Taiwan) to strengthen the business network and promote sustainable tourism in the region.

This is the Intersectoral Program to Support the Development of MSMEs and Sustainable Tourism. This project, with a duration of two years, has the main objective of promoting the growth of micro, small and medium-sized companies, with sustainability as a transversal approach.

The project will focus on promoting the development of the industry, promoting practices that not only strengthen its productive capacity, but also promote the conservation of the natural and cultural environment.
On this basis, CATA will seek to contribute to the positioning of Central America as an attractive, renewed tourist multi-destination with high quality standards in international markets of interest, by strengthening capacities, communication, promotion and marketing actions.

The launch of the project was made official with the disbursement ceremony, in which Mr. David Cabrera, director of CENPROMYPE, participated; Mrs. Ligia Miranda Ponce, executive secretary of SITCA; Mr. Boris Iraheta, Secretary General of CATA and the Ambassador of the Republic of China (Taiwan) accredited to Guatemala, Mr. Miguel Li-jey Tsao.

In this new stage of collaboration, it is expected that the alliance between the Republic of China (Taiwan) and the countries of Central America will continue to grow, thus promoting the economic and tourism development of the region. With a focus on sustainability and equitable growth, this partnership represents an opportunity to encourage the diversification of tourism destinations, promote the inclusion of local communities and preserve natural and cultural heritage on the isthmus.
