One of the most important stimuli that the sector has for travelers is the offer of international destinations that they can reach directly, and this is an area that has shown constant growth in the country.

“We are seeing how Colombia continues to expose the potential outside the country and that is why the growth of its air connectivity is a constant, thus promoting foreign investment and, in turn, local economies, employment and the entry of foreign currency. But on the other hand, it also opens possibilities for national travelers to easily access international destinations, new cultures and experiences,” said Paula Cortés Calle, executive president of ANATO.

Thus, in April 2024, 1,336 direct weekly frequencies were registered on international flights, which represented a growth of 14% compared to the same month of the previous year. In fact, the average for the year so far (January-April), in reference to the growth in frequencies, has been 11%.

On the other hand, the growth of direct weekly frequencies from Colombia to the different regions has been as follows: Caribbean and Central America, 15%; South America, 14%; North America, 13% and Europe 11%.

“The expansion of the route and frequency network demonstrates the confidence that is being had in the Colombian airline sector and places us as an important competitor in the world. We hope to continue growing so that our Travel Agencies continue to boost their offer in order to provide more options inside and outside the country,” said the union leader.
