Tianguis Turístico México 2024 highlights that collaboration is the key to promoting the sector

As part of the activities in the celebration of the Mexico 2024 Tourism Tianguis, the Secretary of Tourism, Miguel Torruco Marqués, held a series of meetings to strengthen and recognize the importance of the tourism sector in Mexico, where collaboration between the 3 levels of government, Private initiative and society are key to the success and consolidation of this noble activity. 

Accompanied by Oscar Rueda García, Director of Tourism of the Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean (CAF), and René Orellana Halkyer, legal representative of CAF in Mexico, they signed a memorandum of understanding between Sectur and the Bank. of Development of Latin America and the Caribbean. 

This memorandum has the objective of establishing a general collaboration framework that allows the development of cooperation activities in tourism and represents a commitment and an opportunity to promote tourism in Mexico, especially in the field of MSMEs, focusing efforts on economic development. and in the protection of the environment through sustainable development schemes. Likewise, Sectur, UN Tourism and CAF will prepare a “tourism investment guide for Mexico” where Sectur will provide advice so that companies present a comprehensive investment project; UN Tourism will support its evaluation by experts; and CAF will provide the financing, which will serve to stimulate investment in Mexico's tourism industry. 

Torruco Marqués reiterated that the Tianguis Turístico México 2024 celebrates its fourth edition as inclusive tourism that aims for people with disabilities to also be part of, and where “no one is left behind, no one is left out.” With the country manager for Mexico and the Caribbean of Despegar, the close collaboration of the public and private sectors was highlighted to boost the flow of tourists, in which travel agencies and tour operators play a relevant role.

The Secretary of Tourism and the governor of Baja California, Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda, carried out the ribbon cutting of the entity's pavilion, which in 2025 will be the headquarters of the Mexico Tourist Tianguis and which for the first time will be held in a city border. 

During the most important Tourism Fair in Latin America, the Secretary of Tourism, Miguel Torruco Marqués, met with the Minister of Tourism of Honduras, Yadira Gómez Chavarría, where, through a productive dialogue, actions were agreed upon to strengthen ties of collaboration. in tourism matters with this country that is part of the Mayan World. Within the framework of the Mexico 2024 Tourism Tianguis, the “Mexico Conquista Te Conquista” event was held, organized by the Association of Tourism Secretaries (Asetur), where the importance of being the partner country in the next International Fair was highlighted. of Tourism 2025, in its traditional headquarters, Madrid, Spain. 

Recognizing the importance of Fitur as the most important tourist fair to exchange ideas for the benefit of tourism, he highlighted the work of Secretary Juan Enrique Suarez del Real Tostado as president of Asetur, and assured that it is a luxury to have the support of talented secretaries and Secretaries of Tourism, not as collaborators, but as a family. 

“The great organization of which I am a part today, with Juan Enrique, is consolidated and there is Asetur for a while to continue strengthening this great nation,” he stated. He mentioned that it is intended that more and more tourists from all over the world discover the wonders of Mexico, and Fitur is the perfect setting to motivate them to travel to any of the 32 states. 

Also, the 2nd Meeting of Gastronomic Tourism Professionals of Mexico was held, a space that represents a unique opportunity for actors involved in the tourism and gastronomic sector, such as restaurateurs, hoteliers, service providers, chefs, public servants. , among others, meet to share knowledge, experiences and best practices. 

It was stated that, in tourism activity, gastronomy is a factor of integral development, since it generates income through tourists' spending in restaurants, markets and various food and beverage establishments, also benefiting farmers, producers and suppliers. 

Participated in the delivery of “Recognitions for the Innovation of the Mexican Tourism Product 2024”, an award that praises the work of service providers that contribute to gender equality, non-discrimination and accessibility, as well as diversifying and expanding the offer. tourist of Mexico. 

Likewise, the “Best of Mexico 2024 Awards” were presented to those who have distinguished themselves for their work in the tourism sector during the year 2023, a recognition granted by the magazine “México Desconocido”.
