In this context, Travel2latam had the opportunity to visit the Tren Maya stand.

The Tren Maya.

The Tren Maya has a route of 1,554 kilometers throughout five states: Yucatán, Campeche, Quintana Roo, Chiapas and Tabasco, in which there are 34 stations distributed. Along the entire route, there are more than 65 archaeological sites in operation, and there are 100 more sites under reconstruction, which are being maintained with leading technology. In addition, more than 300 new ones have been identified.

Currently, there is no other means of rail transportation that allows you to discover an empire of Ancient Civilization like the Mayan Culture. The Tren Maya is a jewel that gives the world the possibility of discovering a wonderful archaeological route that is already operating, for example Calakmul, which is between four and six times larger than Chichén Itzá but is not as well known.

All archaeological sites have the particularity that they are different from one another. Each one has their own contribution within what was the civilization process of the Mayan culture, such as astronomy, mathematics, agriculture and art.

The Tren Maya implies great economic development of the area.

The economic growth that this project will bring to the entire southeast will be exponential, its 34 stations are strategically distributed so that some have great infrastructure, in addition to being in areas with greater tourist influx such as Cancún, Mérida or Campeche, and others are further behind, but that does not make them less important, since they all have attractions that, thanks to the Tren Maya, it will be possible to visit more easily, which will eventually mitigate this lag and create economic benefits equally. There is living culture and traditions that the local populations of the Southeast continue to maintain throughout generations and generations that deserves to be known to the world.

For its promotion, the Tren Maya seeks to have national and international dissemination.

The dissemination that this project has is not only national and international, but also local. They participate in events like this Tianguis Turístico, which is international in nature. Likewise, they have participated in Spain, in the Fitur; at the ITB, in Berlin, Germany, which is the fair that has the most negotiations regarding high purchasing power tourism and similarly at WTM in London; In coming years they will continue to participate in Fairs that are aligned with the dissemination objectives they seek.

The participation of the Tren Maya in this type of event aims to promote the project through those who are close to the end customer, that is, travel agents, agencies, tour operators, wholesalers, retailers, sending and receiving, there are many details of the project that are unknown, which is why this approach is essential to clearly convey the best option of joining efforts that manage to resell what this project offers, where both the one who sells and the one who buys benefit, obtaining in turn a personalized service from your trusted travel agent or agency.

On the other hand, they maintain collaborations with the embassies of different countries to hold events where the train can be promoted, and they also plan to advertise through both national and international media. Also, they are looking to contribute to associations or institutions that are dedicated to developing products or tourist packages that are oriented to the care of the flora and fauna of protected natural areas or that involve communities, the above focused on a European profile, who They mainly look for authentic experiences that bring them closer to the daily reality of the locals.

The work of a big project.

There are many institutions involved and the joint effort that has been made together with SEDENA has made this project consolidate. The 1,554 km that comprise the route of the Tren Maya were built or, failing that, renovated in less than 4 years to achieve its correct operation.

On December 16, the route from Palenque to Cancun was launched. Achieving this is a triumph that all Mexicans should feel proud of. Currently, the route from Cancun to Playa del Carmen is also available, and in the middle of this year The Tulum Airport station is going to be inaugurated, growth continues and there is still a lot of work to be done, all for the benefit of Mexico.
