In this context, Travel2latam spoke with Mauricio Salicrup of Solmar Hotels & Resorts in Los Cabos.
What can you tell us about the company's offer?
We have the rooms at the Grand Solmar Pacific Dunes , which is north of Cabo San Lucas. And we are also remodeling the Playa Grande property. Gastronomy is something very important to us. In each hotel, we have at least four or five restaurants with different types of food, that is, different styles. We also have outside restaurants and the wine bar. In the company, hospitality and culinary experience are very important.
How many rooms do they have?
Eight hundred seventy-four. We have different offices, the Grand Sol Mar, which is the highest, and two properties called Grand Solmar Land's End and Grand Solmar Pacific Dunes. We have different sizes of rooms and type of service, with many categories to choose from according to the guest's preference.
Is everything included?
The only property we sell with everything included is Solmar, which is the oldest. And in the others we sell the rooms with the culinary experience. That means you pay for the package with the dining experience and have access to all the restaurants.
Are your guests primarily from the United States and Canada?
Most of our clients come from the United States and Canada. But some Colombians also arrive. And obviously also tourists from Europe. But Americans occupy ninety percent of tourism.
How far are you from the airport?
To reach our company; You can do it through San José del Cabo, which is the international airport. It's about forty-five kilometers away. And you have two options, the paid route which you can do in half an hour, or the free route, which takes around forty-five minutes due to traffic. And there is also another airport in Cabo San Lucas, which is only for our private planes. It is closer, ten kilometers from our properties.
Airport connectivity is excellent. We worked very hard on it. We have a lot of connectivity between Mexico and the United States. And in November, we will begin a flight to Frankfurt with Cóndor, two days a week. Solmar Group is one of those that initiates this negotiation in Frankfurt, with travel agencies throughout Europe to be successful with Cóndor.
What activities are recommended in the destination?
In Los Cabos we have activities in the desert and in the sea. And also a cultural experience. There are many things to do in Los Cabos. We have agreements with all tour operators to sell in Los Cabos. And we are also starting to have in our call center as a tour operator. That is, if you call us directly to make your hotel reservation, you will have the possibility of having the entire agenda in Los Cabos, all the things you can do in the destination. And another peculiarity, the main thing that Grupo Solmar has, is that it is a company that celebrates 50 years in Mexico. And in the tourism sector there is no other company that celebrates 50 years with the same owners. Solmar offers the guarantee that it has not been passed from hand to hand or sold. That is a great differential.
