Tourism entrepreneurs from Acapulco recognize Miguel Torruco for his support for the recovery of the destination

Within the framework of the Mexico 2024 Tourist Tianguis, which took place in Acapulco, Guerrero, the business sector of this destination recognized the Secretary of Tourism, Miguel Torruco Marqués, for the support provided for the prompt recovery of the port, after the Hurricane Otis passing in October 2023.

Accompanied by the Secretary of Tourism of Guerrero, Santos Ramírez Cuevas, the president of the Association of Hotels and Tourist Companies of Acapulco (AHETA), Alejandro Domínguez Aveleyra, stated that thanks to the timely intervention of the head of the Ministry of Tourism (Sectur), Since the first day that the Tianguis Turístico in Acapulco was announced, work has been done to carry out such an important event for this destination.

He recognized that the Mexico 2024 Tourist Market helped advance more quickly with all the processes involved in the reconstruction and restart of Acapulco, after the situation that the port experienced just five months ago.

For her part, the renowned chef Susana Palazuelos expressed her gratitude, respect and admiration, since having brought the Tianguis Turístico back to this destination, allowed people to see that Acapulco is incredible, because no one imagined it would be like this.

“Thanks to you with this wonderful Tianguis, we are all standing and everyone is integrating. On behalf of all the people of Acapulco, all our love and thanks for your support,” he said.

On behalf of the Chamber of Commerce, Services and Tourism (Canaco-Acapulco), Alejandro Martínez Sidney, recognized the Secretary of Tourism for his tenacity and effort to rebuild the tourism business sector, and assured that he is a promoter and worthy representative of the needs that at the time were due to the hurricane.

“We never feel alone because we have a friend and interlocutor who represented and spoke on behalf of the business sector before the president of Mexico, and today thanks to that intervention we have received the friendly and sincere hand of the president,” he stated.

The Secretary of Tourism received this distinction from the businessmen, which, he stated, will be transmitted to the president of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, as he was the one who instructed to carry out this support, and was the main interested party in the renaissance from Acapulco.

He highlighted the close communication maintained by the authorities of the three levels of government and the private initiative from the first moments after the hurricane, all under the timely direction of the President of the Republic.

In coordination with the authorities of the three levels of government and private initiative, work is being done to internationalize Acapulco. “Little by little we will recover the Acapulco that we have dreamed of and about which we all have a story to tell, to continue being the great producer of experiences, feats and anecdotes,” he concluded.

Also present during this event were the Undersecretary of Tourism, Humberto Hernández Haddad, the president of the National Chamber of the Restaurant and Seasoned Food Industry of Guerrero (Canirac), José Enrique Castro Soto, among other authorities and businessmen in the tourism sector.
