Tour of the main tourist spots in Nicaragua

Within the framework of the Central America Travel Market event, held in El Salvador, we had the opportunity to visit Nicaragua

The Central American country is located between the Pacific Ocean and the Caribbean Sea, and is known for its territory with lakes, volcanoes and beaches. Lake Managua and the Momotombo stratovolcano are located north of the capital, Managua. To the south is Granada, notable for its Spanish colonial architecture and an archipelago of islets with abundant bird species.

 

 

Some of the tourist spots that we have visited on our press trip:

Lake Cocibolca: It is the  largest source of fresh water in Nicaragua .

Mombacho Volcano:  Located within the Mombacho Volcano National Park. It has a height of 1345 meters above sea level.

City of Granada: Founded by the Spanish conqueror, Francisco Hernández de Córdoba, in 1524, located on the coast of Lake Nicaragua. It is home to several iconic Spanish colonial sites and survived several pirate invasions.

Granada has just turned 500 years old.

Granada Cathedral:  Called the Immaculate Conception of Mary Cathedral, it is the episcopal seat of the Diocese of Granada. Its bishop is Jorge Solórzano Pérez.

Church of Guadalupe:  It is located in the eastern part of  Granada , on Calle de la Calzada. It was built in 1626 by Fray Benito Baltodano. 

Convento San Francisco Cultural Center: Museum located next to the old San Francisco Church. It offers a nice collection of historical objects, paintings and statues. In some rooms there are permanent exhibitions, while others have a different theme from time to time.

Zaguán Restaurant.

La Merced Church: Linked to one of the most important traditions of the city of León, such as the veneration of the Virgin of La Merced , proclaimed Patroness of León on July 17, 1912, by Bishop Simeón Pereira y Castellón.

Laguna de Apoyo: Protected reserve around a deep volcanic lagoon ideal for swimming, kayaking and hiking.

Cerro Negro Volcano:  located in the department of León, 25 kilometers east of the departmental capital of the same name and is 726 meters high above sea level, it belongs to the Marrabios mountain range. Snowboarding is practiced there  on volcanic sand.

León Cathedral: It is the most important architectural work in  Nicaragua , the largest temple by extension in Central America and the most visited monument.

Rum Winery, Flor de Caña: Flor de Caña Rum  is today the #1 brand exported from  Nicaragua , with presence in more than 40 countries in the world

These are some of the tourist attractions that we had the opportunity to visit, attesting to all the potential that Central America has to receive tourists from all over the world.
