The Dominican Republic received almost 200 thousand Argentine tourists in 2023

According to a study carried out by the Ministry of Tourism of the Dominican Republic, in 2023 the Caribbean country received almost 200 thousand Argentine tourists, positioning it as one of the favorite vacation destinations.

Although in 2021, the context of the pandemic generated a considerable drop in tourists around the world, that year 29,749 Argentines entered the Dominican Republic, while in 2022 it increased almost 500% (177,884) and in 2023 there was the highest number. high in the last five years, increasing a total of 12 percent.

Within this context, Argentines who visited this Caribbean country were mainly from Buenos Aires (55%), Córdoba (16%), Santa Fe (9%) and Mendoza (5%).

This same report highlights that May and July were the months chosen by Argentines to enjoy the beaches of the Dominican Republic with the arrival of 21,219 and 18,382 Argentines, respectively.

The most chosen destination for Argentines was Punta Cana with 48%, followed by La Romana - Bayahibe with 23%, Santo Domingo 15%, Samaná 8% and Puerto Plata with 3%.

Among the age group that most chose the Dominican Republic are tourists aged 50 and older with 35%, while in second place are those between 36 and 49 years old, with 26%.

Regarding accommodation, 93% chose a hotel, and within this percentage, 47% booked a traditional resort and 27% a Premium Resort.

For this year, the Ministry of Tourism of the Dominican Republic maintains high expectations for the increase in the arrival of family groups, trips of friends, and newlyweds from Argentina.

Finally, of the Argentinians surveyed, 95% stated that they would choose the Dominican Republic as a vacation destination again.

Likewise, year after year the Dominican Republic continues to receive awards from the main players in the industry. In 2024 and for the fourth consecutive year, the country was recognized as the “Best Destination in the Caribbean”, in the 12th edition of the annual Leisure Lifestyle Awards 2024, by the specialized magazine Global Traveler.

Four must-see beach destinations in the Dominican Republic
