Montevideo invites to the first edition of the International Tourism 360 Fair

In the year in which Montevideo celebrates the 300th Anniversary of its founding, the city will host the first edition of the International Tourism Fair 360, an event on Smart Tourist Destinations.

On June 12 and 13, the Municipality of Montevideo convenes a unique opportunity to learn about the latest advances in tourism management and innovation linked to the development of smart tourist destinations. The event will take place in the modern Antel Arena (Av. José Pedro Varela and Av. Dámaso A. Larrañaga. Montevideo).

The fair will provide training and integration spaces for professionals, researchers, companies, entrepreneurs, teachers and students of the tourism value chain in Uruguay and abroad, and a mentoring proposal for companies and projects that prove to be aligned with the DTI path undertaken. through the city of Montevideo, with experts in business strategy, communication and marketing who will travel from the region for the event.

In accordance with one of the main axes of Smart Tourist Destinations, which consists of providing benefits to the local community, the event will have a culture and entertainment agenda for the general public.

The entire event will be free of charge, with the aim of positioning Montevideo as a benchmark for tourism innovation and the sustainable transformation of destinations.

In the training segment, the fair will have the participation of specialists from Uruguay and Latin America, for the transfer of knowledge and exchange of experiences and good practices. Diego Gonzalez (Ibero-American Accessible Tourism Network), Alejandra Cruz García (UN Tourism), Federico de Arteaga (Tequila, Mexico), Ana Maria Palacio (Rural Tourism Medellín), Mariano Guarino (Google, eCommerce Account Manager) have already confirmed their participation. , Nicolás Posse (Civitatis, Business Development Uruguay, Chile and Paraguay), María Laura Romero (TurismoCity, COO - Business Developer & Product Manager), Stephanie Carmody Lobo (Travolution ORG, Chile), which makes up a very complete grid for the work on tourism, governance, sustainability, tourism intelligence, technology, innovation and accessibility. The Business Tutoring segment is available to provide advice to tourism companies in private sessions with experts. With online pre-registration and a quota limited to 60 companies, priority will be given to those that have the Greenest Montevideo Seal, have applied to the DTI Competitive Fund, or startups that can prove initial status of the business, tourism with an impact in Montevideo, sustainable approach.

The cultural proposal will be up to par, since there will be musical and theatrical shows, and immersive experiences in the Antel Arena itself, so that the general public can experience Uruguayan traditions and history in a technological way, an agenda of activities and activations in the neighborhoods of Montevideo (an intervention in each municipality) and a great musical show by La Catalina Sinfónica with the participation of guest artists: Rubén Rada, Mauricio Ubal, Maia Castro, Luana, Spuntone & Mendaro, Agustina and Gastón de Cuatro Pesos de Tipina , Cuerda C1080 and the 300 drums of Montevideo.

¨Already in 2022, Montevideo is selected by the Inter-American Development Bank as one of the 10 destinations (among the 107 that were presented) to receive technical assistance through the Future Tourism program, in order to contribute to competitiveness and sustainability of the tourism sector in Latin America and the Caribbean through the adoption of digital and emerging technologies. This participation meant a new impulse and a newly attentive look at the DTI model, which led the public administration to define a new step and sign a contract in 2023 with the State Commercial Society for the Management of Innovation and Tourism Technologies (SEGITTUR). ), dependent on the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism, and attached to the Secretary of State for Tourism, responsible for promoting innovation (R&D&i) in the Spanish tourism sector and creator of the DTI Model.

This process was aligned with the 2021-2025 Institutional Strategic Plan of the Municipality of Montevideo, consisting of four strategic guidelines that indicate the priorities for the period and guide the organization's strategy at its different levels of planning. Each guideline includes a particular strategic topic: environment, employment, mobility and social vulnerability.
