This year, the Latin American Political Forum on Meetings Tourism will celebrate its eleventh edition, with the participation of recognized industry leaders and the highest authorities representing Ministries and Secretariats of Tourism from across the region. The main thematic axes will be “Perspectives on Artificial Intelligence: Navigating between opportunities and challenges” and “The multidimensional value of professional events as catalysts for innovation, collaboration and growth.”

FIEXPO is committed to leading the transformation of the MICE sector through its Sustainability and Legacy Strategy, developed in collaboration with GDS- Movement and Meet4Impact. This strategy includes sustainable event management, education for transformation, legacy implementation, and catalyzing partnerships for impact.

Through its MICE Forest initiative, Costa Rica will compensate the transportation of all international buyers who will attend FIEXPO, fulfilling one of our main climate action objectives: reducing the carbon footprint of attendees.

Supporting the goal of circularity, Colombia will provide reusable bottles to invited shoppers, who will be able to refill them at water stations during the event, thus eliminating single-use plastics.

Uruguay will implement a waste management program that will include collection stations with signage and separation, with the goal that 50% of the event's waste will be donated or composted.

Together with partner PROMTUR, the Legacy Program at FIEXPO Latin America 2024 has incorporated the Next Generation Summit, an event that FIEXPO has been holding for years. This year, it was integrated into Legado's strategy, which seeks to understand the level of knowledge of Panamanian students about our industry and encourage their active integration through various actions. One of these actions is the FIEXPO Ambassadors Program, which seeks to integrate young people as an active part of the entire academic program of the fair.

At the Next Generation Summit, students not only learn about the industry through hands-on exercises with professionals, but also act as expert mentors, guiding these professionals in using digital tools to solve industry challenges and improve their work. This encourages intergenerational exchange, building bonds that can endure and evolve over time.

These initiatives improve access to professional development opportunities for young people in the MICE industry, increasing their participation and visibility. In addition, they facilitate the development of professional relationships between young people and professionals in the sector, generating future opportunities for mentoring, employment and collaboration.
